In other words we're getting old and the newer generations are idiots.

I gotta agree with that, Cheeky. My nephews play mobile games and FIFA (Ultimate Team) and, to them, grinding through freemium games, getting loot boxes and watching YouTubers open loot boxes is videogaming.

Its the normalisation of this stuff which is the most offensive; that these systems of rarity tiers and randomisation are somehow natural or inherent and we're being offered a solution by the very people who created them in the first place. Guy Debord was right.

Why are you being an absolute bootlicker for EA?

I'm a bit desperate for a new Star Wars game that doesn't suck ass or get cancelled, and I enjoyed the last Battlefront, despite its flaws.

I hate the way the currency and loot system is being handled, I'm just trying to cling on to whatever hope is left. This is my last big game of the year and I'm determined to not have it ruined.

More news, including EA responding to the quantities of credits per match and the like:

Summary:
  • Lando (in his RotJ Rebel General's costume) and Bossk will be heroes in the game.
  • EA capped progression and credits per match in the Beta; it will be faster and there'll be more credits per match in the final game. Hopefully the 150 per match Beta average will be at the bottom end of the scale, but knowing EA, it'll probably be somewhere in the middle.
  • Arcade Mode will have a daily cap on earnable credits. No word on what that cap is going to be. No daily cap for multiplayer.

I'm excited :toot:

Still upsets me that everyone forgets about the two PSP games and their singleplayer campaigns - especially Elite Squadron's that had you go from regular battlefront grunt to Jedi

I hope the campaign is a lengthy one, but the fact that it only seems to take place on 3 worlds is worrisome. I'm guessing it'll take about 5 hours, tops.

I'll maybe buy the game pre-owned for the campaign later next year, (when it can be grabbed for a tenner like the last BF). Made a decision not to openly support a lot of the larger publishers any more, (or any developer who places MTs above everything else), through buying their games new. Also, I feel a lot of new games are vapid, soulless experiences, (through gameplay seemingly taking a back seat to the myriad of ways publishers try to squeeze more and more money out of customers), that I simply don't think they are worth the asking price - if even worth bothering with at all.

Again, thank God for my back catalogue. Used to view it with dread thinking I'd never get around to playing half the titles I'd purchased, but now I'm going to be buying far less games it's become quite an inviting prospect.

Anyone know if the single player campaign has a first person mode? All the footage i keep seeing is third person. Some of the modes on the first game only support third person. I much prefer playing first person.

I'm assuming it will have the same first and third person options as multiplayer.

I was just concerned because i think it was the Heroes mode that only had third person play on the 1st one and all the footage i saw was third person.

Doesn't look too bad right there, but we'll have to see how it plays out.

It looks lovely but nothing about the gameplay looks fun. It's all a but awkward if you compare it to almost any other modern third person shooter.
