We're excited to announce Star Wars™: Dark Forces Remaster!

Created in collaboration with Lucasfilm Games and fully remastered through our KEX engine, Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster supports up to 4K at 120FPS and features advanced 3D rendering, modern gamepad support, trophies and achievements, and more!

Star Wars: Dark Forces Remaster is coming soon to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam). Stay tuned for a release date announcement later this year!

I don't think I really need to add much other than this game is absolutely great and the trailer looks awesome for pre-alpha footage. NightDive have also recently done fantastic remasters of Quake, Powerslave, System Shock 2 (unreleased still) and Quake 2. Definitely worth giving this a go if you've never played it when it releases!

...I've never played Dark Forces but I recall that it was well-regarded back in the day! It's coming to Switch so I might take a look.

And, yeah, NightDive have done some cracking work these past few years.

Nice, I've never played this.

Loving the old school shooters coming back!

I played so much of this on PS1 back in 96. Can’t wait to play it again. Those cutscenes look really nice too.

This immediately makes me hope that someone might give Outlaws the same treatment.

Great news!

Really wish the No One Lives Forever situation could get sorted out.

Oh hell yeah.. then do Jedi Knight and the Mara Jade add-on too.
The live action cut scenes in JK were hilarious

Is this another boomer shooter? I think I'm a bit too old to jump on this nostalgia-train.

It looks bloody awful.

So far this year, I have eaten NO mince pies.

Dark Forces at the time was called a Doom-clone (the name for the entire FPS genre) so yes it's 100% pure boomer shooter.

Jedi Knight is worth a remake just because it doesn't really run on modern Windows anymore.

Nice.

Dark Forces is still a cracking blaster. Replayed it last year with one of the source ports with mouse support and it's still great fun.

Never played this before, if it's priced well I will probably pick it up, looks neat and it's Star Wars.

I think I can only get this running in a postage stamp window in Dosbox so this looks like it could be brilliant!

How much rebuilding goes into these remakes? If the enemies are going to stay pretty much 2-D then could we not just have photorealistic textures now?

There's a sourceport for this that might be worth a look.

I used it for my replay last year and it's great.

I might have installed that, can't actually remember! That still just looks like "better" sprites though. I mean using high-res photos to replace the sprite animations (and probably the level textures) so you have something like Lethal Enforcers or Area 51 but not filmed with a Game Boy Camera and with excellent gameplay.

Yeah, it was more to help you get the game running. :D

But I guess there's nothing to stop them replacing the sprites with newer ones. I don't expect them to do more than clean them up a bit though.

Ah, I misunderstood, cheers for the help!

I would love to see if this was possible. It's quite a small niche of games that I think it would work reliably for (the earliest boomer shooters - anything pre Quake 2 maybe).

That looks like motion sickness mania. Shame.
