At board games last night 3 of us (who are huge nerds, Star Wars fans etc) basically went "Oh it's out tomorrow? Huh. Maybe I'll see it in a few weeks"

I just CBA going to the cinema any more. I get so little enjoyment from it vs watching stuff at home.

I went to see Infinity War on night of release (and then other chums and I had plans to see it on Saturday about 1-2 weeks before) and we had a decent plan for Deadpool 2 before it came out.

Just there's no interest/caring in this

They made a big mistake in not delaying it, but I'm quite excited myself, being as I don't give two strawberry floats about Marvel and love me some Star Wars.

IMAX 3D-ing that gooseberry fool on Saturday. :datass:

This reinforces should have been a Christmas release. I don’t understand why Disney have such an obsession with getting the Star Wars films out in May. The past three were all scheduled for May and only pushed back to Xmas for various reasons. There are simply too many big films out in such a small period this year. Jurassic world 2 is out in two weeks.

A lot of Star Wars film have been released in May, which is likely why they're obsessed with it.

They need to either make Marvel their permanent Christmas fixture, or Star Wars. They cannot co-exist.

It’s true, Marvel and Star Wars famously don’t make any money.

Spoiler trolls are out on social media, trying to avoid them as best I can. Excited!

You don't put two of the year's biggest blockbusters out within weeks of each other. That's asking for trouble.

If Solo flops will they stop thinking people want to watch more films about existing overrated characters :shifty: It's like Disney's obsession with life-action remakes of their animated classics... No interest whatsoever in a Boba Fett film unless it's got a bounty hunter ensemble. His inclusion in the prequels was bad enough :dread:

It's a good indication that we can probably expect 2 Star Wars movies a year very soon. Lot's of these project with the desperation for a May release.

They really need to do something different with Star Wars otherwise it's going to become oversaturated (as if it isn't already). If they keep coming back to reuse these same characters over and over then they're not going to be able to get away from the tropes of Star Wars and will be stuck making the same movie over and over again.

How long will it be before they've got the confidence that Marvel had to start doing full budget films about characters that aren't exactly mainstream?

Shadows of the Empire was planned as a multi media spanning franchise back in the day, would love to see a film more along the lines of that than just "Oh here's a film all about [merchandisable character X]"

It's already reached assassins creed levels of saturation for me. I'm half excited to see solo tomorrow, but not even close to the heart pumping excitement of a proper star wars.film coming out after a long wait.
