That thing when a single different word used in films made 40 years apart somehow takes the shine off it for you.

I'm more bothered by the Death Star plans bearing zero resemblance to the actual goddamn Death Star, but I know why that discrepancy exists and am comfortable with it.

When Rogue One's entire basis is to pad out the opening 5 minutes of another film you'd just think they'd make sure it was consistent.

You're right though, it is a minor point, I just thought it wasn't necessary for them to try to tie it together so much in first place, so it irked me that it didn't even seem to work.

My main problem with Rogue One is the lack of camaraderie between the crew and the unnecessary planet-jumping. I would have preferred a more tightly focused story with a more naturally established rapport between the characters. Those issues are there regardless of a slight inconsistency in the ending or the existence of immersion breaking uncanny valley CGI.

The Tantive IV had an excuse though. Wasn't it attached to another cruiser at the time? Probably for repairs? Don't forget that Bail was sending Leia to Tatooine. She was to have nothing to do with Scarif. The needing repairs thing would also explain how it gets incapitated so easily - with both hyperdrive and shields.
That 40th anniversary short story book had some weird stories, but I find that one plausible enough. And even without the knowledge of that story, it's easy enough to piece together what might have happened.

Tickets booked for solo. Massive leather recliners at the veu and £11 total for two of us.

When you're the first person to book seats and you get the pick of the entire cinema

As a proper British person, none of this makes sense. Today is the fourth of May, how can that be with you? Fourth of May be with you?

Americans. :fp:

I'll be booking my tickets for Solo nearer the time, no idea what I'm working around that time currently. Hopefully I won't be waiting to as long to see Solo as I am to see Infinity War.

I've also never seen the point of May the 4th be with you outside of a running internet joke, seems a lot of people take it pretty seriously though! My parents were in Jersey last year and they saw Stormtroopers and some other characters while walking/driving around the island.

Work's doing a Star Wars costume contest for May the 4th. :dread: I'll wear a Star Wars shirt, but I wear those every day because I'm a povvo who doesn't own a lot of shirts, so... whatever. :slol:

I have to say I have zero hype for the Solo movie, I dont know why, I think its just because it comes across as a totally unneccesary story to be telling and they just went with it cos people love Han Solo. Ill still go see it but Im not expecting much.

I won't be seeing it in the cinema, I'll just acquire a copy from the high seas at some point down the road.

I still think they're trying to recreate the old Han Solo trilogy of books with an entirely new storyline. Hence why the important parts of the trilogy seem to have been shrunk into this one movie.
His past before smuggling - check [and possibly even a bit about his Imperial roots]. Rescuing Chewie - check. Getting his fame - check. Winning the Falcon - check.
Qi'ra is basically a replacement for Bria Tharen, and the heist is pretty much going to be the same Ylesia - though first or third book I can't say for sure.
I'll be watching it to see what it's like, despite what I've said about it. Just because it's a generic heist movie in my eyes doesn't mean it isn't worth watching.

I'm actually rather looking forward to it, now. :shifty: I mean, yeah, it seems unnecessary, but no Star Wars film can be classed as necessary, so I figure, why not? Should be a fun romp.

I never read those books, but I got the jist of them from forays onto Wookieepedia over the years. It definitely looks like Solo's Imperial roots will be in the film, most likely just the first 10-15 minutes.

Live action TV show details:

- Directed by Jon Favreau
- Set 7 years after RotJ
- Utilizes same motion capture tech as recent Jungle Book film, so it'll be very pretty

Hopefully it'll really flesh out both the First Order and New Republic.

From what I've been able to gather, without encountering spoilers, it's got a pretty standard plot, but it's pretty well done, with great performances by the cast.
