Why dump it and not just not destroy it? Or fly it into a sun? And if its to scrap all the parts then why risk dropping it from orbit when you could land it? Nah the old battle makes far more sense.

I won't disagree with that, but this is Star Wars - there are entire planets dedicated to (and covered in) the galaxy's insatiable output of rubbish.

The trailer for Solo looked good, but then again it's easy to get a minute or so of decent-looking footage even from a film that isn't great. Been all sorts of troubling news about the production but hopefully it turns out okay because I do love me some Star Wars. And if it is bad it looks like it might at least be some dumb fun - unlike Rogue One which was a competent film but I found it so boring.

Watched Baby Driver for the first time last night (what a great movie) and I couldn't help that Baby makes a much better Young solo than the guy they've picked to play young solo..

Pretty sure they still had a navy to protect the government, which is what all the ships, personnel and other resources of the Resistance were drawn from. That navy was wiped out when Starkiller did its thing.

I always wondered if his Han Solo varsity jacket was an intentional Star Wars reference. Apparently Ansel Elgort did audition to be Solo, but they somehow preferred this other guy.

Going by the wiki, they cut the military by 90%. The Resistance was an illegal organisation formed by Leia after she got kicked out for being Vaders daughter and then calling them retards. No matter how you look at it, the decision to cut arms like that is literally nothing anyone would agree to. Hell the strawberry floating arms companies, which Last Jedi likes to hamfistedly wobble at you in an attempt of relevance, supplied the Republic/rebel alliance. Theyd surely have some friends in senate thatd block it from passing.

Compared to this, Lucas was practically Shakespeare

I've not read the books set in that era, or the Wiki, but if I had to rationalize it, I might liken it to the pre-WW2 era; when all the people who served in WW1 as junior officers, regular soldiers etc were by that time in influential senior military, government etc roles, and nobody wanted to face a return to the horrors of the last war. This fear in Star Wars' context might translate to a near deafness to the warnings of Leia and others about the First Order's rumored/reported activities, a chronic over-cautiousness, and a general deep seated unwillingness to militarize on a large scale, as the Empire beforehand had. Perhaps there was also a fear that a large New Republic military might fall under the sway of malevolent forces operating in the shadows, and that steps must be taken to minimize that kind of threat too.

Maybe there was some financial stuff as well - nobody knows what kind of fiscal state the galaxy's banking institutions, nor the government itself, were in after the reconstitution of the Republic.

I'm just going to put it down to those kinds of forces at work in the minds and wallets of the New Republic leadership.

Has anyone else done the Star Wars: Secrets Of The Empire VR experience in Westfield London? strawberry float me, it's one of the best things I've ever done it was absolutely astonishing.

If you are a Star Wars fan near London and also a gamer it's an absolute must.

Star Wars Rebels has now finished, and that ending was just lovely.
Waiting for the next animated adventure is gonna be long, I expect.

Maybe they could fill the gap by letting them make the last two seasons of Clone Wars.

The only arc I can see them making at this point would be the Seige of Mandalore arc as an animated movie - but considering Disney and their plans for a movie a year, that seems like a thing that would be TV movie only and definitely not worth it in Disney's eyes. Here's hoping it can happen, though.

I'm only 2 episodes into the final half of Season 4 and it's very good - looking forward to finishing it.

As for the next series, Star Wars Explained suggested a series following Luke and Lor San Tekka exploring the galaxy discovering relics of the Jedi which I'd definitely be down for.
