Yes! That’s exactly what that trailer reminded me of

Especially at the end of the trailer where Han is all (can't remember it word for word, CBA to watch it again) "I thought we were in trouble then! But no.. we're fine"

You lot do take your silly space films very seriously, don't you?

I've watched the trailer a couple more times and it still looks alright, nothing special currently though. Still looking forward to getting to see it though, I'll agree that Han doesn't seem overly like the Han we know though but we've only seen him for a few seconds currently.

I wasn't too hyped before, but I am now. I'm a fan to the point where I'll take anything Star Wars and love it - but what I saw in the trailer I think looks good and I want to see more.

I can understand people not liking having a new Han, it's a very iconic role. But personally I saw enough of Han in the new actor to satisfy me. Unlike most, for some reason I'm not particularly attached to Harrison as Han so I'm not bothered about giving the role to somebody else.

Having some other guy running around pretending to be Han just doesn't work in my brain on a very fundamental level - he doesn't look like Ford, he doesn't sound like Ford, he doesn't have the same mannerisms and facial expressions as Ford, he isn't as cool as Ford.

fast edit: At least with the young Indiana Jones, River Phoenix was playing Ford as a really young man, a teenager, so you wouldn't expect him to look completely the same as fully grown Indy. But in this Solo film, the guy playing Han is clearly a grown man, he's not teenage-Han.

No thanks.

I was watching Empire last night (despecialised version :datass: ) and you're right - you kinda forget how young Solo was in the original films. The difference isn't great enough to make the change of actor work.

Also, I have come to realise that Solo is pretty much the best thing about the OT, by about a million parsecs. Ironic that a laconic style that probably came from not giving a gooseberry fool about the job in the first place, turned out to be the best thing about it.

Yeah pretty much how i feel. I will see this and i'm looking forward to it. I'm confused by how much some people over analyse these films. Once you start wanting to see something happen and envisage how, and then it doesn't happen then you start getting annoyed. I've done this with various films and tv shows before so i try to just take it as it comes with star wars and i'm enjoyed all 3 of the new films from disney as a result.

GAME OF THRONES CREATORS DAVID BENIOFF AND D.B. WEISS TO WRITE AND PRODUCE A NEW SERIES OF STAR WARS FILMS

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss are going from Winterfell to a galaxy far, far away.

It was announced today that Benioff and Weiss, creators of the smash-hit, Emmy Award-winning television series Game of Thrones, will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films.

These new films will be separate from both the episodic Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Rian Johnson, writer-director of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Seems a bit overkill, what are they going to do, do alternate films from each trilogy? Just to really confuse people?

Also Solo looks so meh, I was really excited for Rogue one, and I loved it, so I am surprised how this does nothing for me.

I really wish they'd done Kenobi instead. Ewan McGregor is still there and seems definitely up for it, and there's probably a more interesting story you can tell about how Obi-wan dealt with the aftermath of RotS and what he did in the intervening years than this which just seems to be "hey, you like Han Solo? Here's Han Solo, but not the real Han Solo that you like".

Already getting a bit bored of Disney’s abuse of Star Wars. Haven’t they realised there’s other ways to expand the universe? Why not a live-action TV series, or (heaven forbid) an actual decent story driven *game* rather than another Battlefront?

What are they going to do if the first in the series doesn’t do as well as they hoped but they’ve already greenlit the rest? And why are they giving whole separate trilogies to directors/teams when they didn’t bother doing that with arguably the most important of the new films?

(Also isn’t the “Game of Thrones creator” actually George RR Martin? :shifty: )

It's getting abit DC-esque. Announcing loads of films without having released any really good ones yet.

There's a live action show in development, to be exclusive to Disney's upcoming streaming service. EA is pretty much done with singleplayer games for the foreseeable future, so a new singleplayer Star Wars adventure won't happen until some time after that exclusivity deal is concluded - unless Respawn's Star Wars game happens to be hefty in the 1p department, which seems unlikely. There are a lot of books, though. I'm only a few pages in, but Lords of the Sith is awesome to the max already. Vader kicking erryone's ass.

Wish Disney would strawberry float EA off after the lootcrate fiasco. It’s sad we’ll probably never get anything else like Jedi Knight, Rogue Squadron, or Shadows of the Empire...

Star Wars: Kenobi by John Jackson Miller already did this, and yes - it was an interesting story. It released just before the canon reboot though, so is technically Legends.

Despite my thoughts on the Solo trailer still being "alright" I still can't get enough of Star Wars so the more stuff the better currently, although if it all starts being rushed through to make more money my viewpoint (and subsequently poor quality films/tv being produced) could do a 180, hopefully not as Star Wars is one franchise I do genuinely live and have done for most of my life.

I do agree with most of the recent comments, they could do other things than more film trilogies to expand the universe, I'd love a return to the KOTOR style of games but I very much doubt that'll happen anytime soon. Personally I'm still holding out hope for a Rogue Squadron trilogy remaster..... The one that was apparently finished for the Wii before the studio went bust or something like that anyway.

Mostly what I want right now is for Cad Bane to get a film or show of his own.

Edit: Apparently Disney has multiple Star Wars TV shows in development... but all for its banana spliting streaming service. :x
