Nothing jaw dropping, pretty much what you would expect. Will Solo actually make it's May release date? It's all very quiet.

Sounds like a description of someone's fan fic.

No one I knows is excited about this film. (And all the Star Wars liking people are divided over TLJ)

I think/hope that it'll surprise us and be a pretty good romp, but TBH I'd have preferred something else. Not Boba Fett, because he could potentially have enough of an interesting life to fill multiple films, so his would have to come after IX to be interspersed between Johnson's trilogy flicks, and not Kenobi, since that's still years away yet. Just something else. Ahsoka, Cad Bane and Maul could've filled this slot nicely.

Not sure what they could have done with Maul without retreading Clone Wars/Rebels stuff, especially since he's been killed off now

Edit - unless it was an origin story I guess, dunno if they covered that in the tv shows

No one is going to go to the cinema to watch how Maul ended up in TPM. Apart from Alvin. Unless it turned out he had an army of Porgs.

The Han Solo thing would make a better TV series then a film. Lots of little stories that develop his relationships over time.

I'm really not all that interested in seeing a Young Adventures of Han and Chewie™ film. He was a lovable rogue with a shady past, but I don't need to see that past played out to me, it ruins the mystique of the character.

Exactly. I don't want to see an Obi Wan film either really, we've seen enough from the prequels.

I'd love a luke story though. Gimme that Skywalker film about him training Jedi.

I don't really want to see a Han Solo movie at all. Though I can live with an Obi Wan movie because I like the idea of Macgregor coming back.

Frankly I'd rather they did more stuff like Rogue One. New stories, with new characters, maybe a cameo here and there.

I don't need to see someone doing their best Harrison Ford impression and failing miserably.

Maul's homeworld and probable origin were covered and implied respectively in TCW, actually, but I still think a story centered around him pre-PM would be interesting to see play out.

Obi-Wan's story will probably center around a threat to the young Luke's identity, and Kenobi's fraught secret mission to end it. I half expect to see or hear Qui-Gon at some point, given that Kenobi learned the secret of becoming a Force Ghost during his seclusion. Perhaps Boba Fett might show up?

What about the story of how they obtained the plans for death star 2 :shifty: or a film centred around the battle of Jaku. It would like that. Rogue one has shown that you don't need the original characters to set a film in the timeline of the original films.

I'm happy for a possible obi wan film in the future though.

I for one wouldn't mind seeing that particular Bothan massacre. The fact that Palpatine himself was seemingly involved in allowing the plans to get to the Alliance makes the whole story all the juicier, because we haven't seen the older Emperor since ROTJ. If it wouldn't break the canon, they could even include Snoke, somehow, and allude to Starkiller Base.

Jakku would be a nice battle to watch unfold, but I don't know... maybe as the climactic finale to a season of a live action Star Wars TV show. Actually, that'd be amazing - a show beginning in the run-up to Endor, going past Jakku, without the Imperial-turned-Rebel trope. A loyal First Order officer/crew. Sort of Star Trek-esque, what with the FO retreatinginto the Unknown Regions.

I am really pleased with all these plans to expanded the Star Wars universe by filling in the odd few years between movies we've already had, featuring plot that, had it been essentially to character development and the overarching saga, would surely have been including in the existing episodes.

We don't need to see anything more about Obi Wan or Han Solo. All of it has been adequately portrayed already. Indeed arguably the most interesting unseen parts of Han Solo are now when he's older and suffers betrayal from Kylo Ren. Instead we are going to get uncessary fan-service filling in tiny plot points and making everything neat and tidy (He meets Lando! He meets Cheque! He gets a new spaceship! Wow that's where he got his jacket from!). That's the sort of stuff people complained about in the prequels, where everything had to tie together and explaining the origins of every single thing.

I remember these exact concerns just before Rogue One came out, and now that's regarded pretty highly on this forum. I'm reserving judgement for now, at least until I see a trailer.

You are 100% right, though it would be funny that we would then have a Young Han Solo series, to go along side the Young Indiana Jones series

They should get River Phoenix back for that too.

Like Parksey said you'd still get the how he got his jacket moments but they would be spread out over time and I'd be more interested in him meeting new characters. People from his past even when young. Maybe family that were long gone by the time the trilogy started.

Not during the Super Bowl? Odd.
