I must have missed the part where they explained that away to the audience. To the average viewer who doesn't have the time or inclination to look up gooseberry fool like that it just comes across as a dumb plot device.

I quite liked the new trailer. I have nothing else to add.

Thought the new trailer looked good. I have faith that any humour will be a million times better than TLJ.

It wasn't explained because it wasn't explained. Johnson might've thought exposition on that would've spoiled the pacing or something.

The average viewer doesn't think in terms of whether plot devices are clever or dumb.

I thought the trailer looks pretty good actually, looking forward to going to see it.

Re the bombs I just thought they'd be magnetised in some way to help them reach their target. I also agree they should have done more to say where the Resistance and First Order actually came from but oh well, can't do much about it now as putting it in the third film would be a little odd.

The new trailer did absolutely nothing for me.

That same average viewer likely doesn't give a gooseberry fool and just wants to see lightsabers, R2D2, and things going boom.

They could add a new scene or two with exposition on that in the inevitable new trilogy box set in a couple of years. Star Wars is no stranger to heavy post-release editing (hell, a scene or two in Empire were added while the film was still in theaters!) so I would hope that Disney will as scene here and there over the years.

They want you to buy the comics. That's why C3P0 suddenly had a red arm in The Force Awakens and then suddenly a gold arm again in The Last Jedi.

Wait? His arm was gold again in Last Jedi? How did that even happen?!? Did Leia just fit him up with a new arm 'cus she finally got tired of him complaining about it DURING AN EVACUATION?

I was wondering about the red arm. :slol: Didn't know there was a comic for it.

I think there was a free DLC pack for the LEGO Star Wars game that explained it, too.

Anyone else finding that guy really weird and off putting as Han Solo? Not having a go at the actor, I thought he was great in Hail Ceasar.

You can tell already Donald Glover is going to be a class Lando. Defos skipping this in the cinema though.

This thread is hilarious. Some of the nitpicking that goes on.
Mind blowing.
It’s Star Wars - who gives a strawberry float.

At Disney HQ: "I'll try swapping C3PO's arm! That's a good trick!"

This, so much this, I swear people just can't just enjoy stuff, it's like the thread of Go 8 bit and how the top gear thread used to be, it has to be super serious and 100% accurate nothing can be fun or entertaining.

I've not watched any of these trailers as I want to go in as blind as possible, but I've inevitably seen a few screen shots. Hopefully I'll come out on a high like with rogue one, as I didn't know anything about that and loved it. Hopefully won't have a last Jedi situation :dread:

Reading opinions, I don't get why everyone is down on the lead and saying he should be doing a Harrison Ford impersonation for 2 hours. What would be the point of that? Other recccuring characters played by other people haven't been given as much gooseberry fool.

Nitpicking is fun and entertainment for some people though.
