Same thing happened to Episode 7. Not a huge surprise really, probably didn't want Rogue One and this so close to each other. Probably means Episode 9 will be delayed too

It's not a delay if you came into it expecting it to be the de facto Christmastime Tolkien replacement for the next half a decade. :shifty:

^^^^ This.

I'm glad it's not May. The whole May the Fourth thing is hackneyed and unfunny.

New date puts it roughly a month after Avatar 2. Chances are that will be delayed anyway, but I do like the idea of Cameron not wanting to go up against a Rian Johnson Star Wars film

I agree on the whole liking it being out at Christmas. With rogue one also out at Christmas it will hopefully become a Christmas tradition that I see Star Wars on Xmas eve.

I'm in for this too. I plan on visiting the UK again this Christmas too. And it was great that on my first night back I had a new Star Wars film to watch. Even after hours of travel and being addled with jet lag, I was looking forward to it. Looking forward to doing the same this year with Rogue One.

Main issue for me at the moment is whether Rogue One will have the Star Wars opening title. To me, they might as well use it, seems a bit of a waste not to.

Got no problem with it becoming a Christmas film.

There's no way they aren't going to use the opening crawl. It's iconic!

I'd be absolutely okay if it didn't use the crawl. It'll piss some people off of course (what wouldn't?) but it'd differentiate it from the mainline movies.

I would predict they don't use the crawl, but then I've never seen any of the other spin-off movies. Did they use it?

No. I believe The Clone Wars uses a voice over (bit like a sixties sci-fi TV series.)
