Keira Knightly played Padme's double, Padme is Luke's mother so if Rey is Luke's daughter that actually makes sense.

My mind is blown! I never knew Keira Knightly was in Episode 1. When we saw Force Awakens, my wife (who had never seen the prequels) said Rey looked like a cross between Natalie Portman and Keira Knightly. Totes a Skywalker.

He does look like a younger Ford, to be fair. I think that was good casting.

Spoke to a colleague yesterday who saw the film at the weekend. She was adamant that Kylo ren died at the end. She said that rey hit him and he fell on the ground. Then the floor opened up and he fell into it. She then said that as the planet was growing up at one of the bad guys said that they were going to retrieve his body. So she thinks that he will be resurrected in the next film  it advised that she was wrong but she wouldn't listen.

yeah i think she just watched the wrong film. Either that or she was really drunk when watching it and doesn't want to own up being completely wrong.

Sounds like that woman was officially tripping balls during the movie. Or she just doesn't give a gooseberry fool about reality, and makes her own stories up as the movie progresses.

I have to go back and see this. Not in IMAX 3D again though, too long a trip and the glasses weren't all that comfortable - some sweating around the nose was had, and the light reflecting on the rims was a little distracting. I'll probably see it at my local theater, to which I have coupons anyway.

I watched it again today. Great film.

Some more points i noticed for discussion;

During the Rey/saber flashback - I think that Ren put Rey on Jukku. The voice saying something along the lines of "stay there girl" was a 'masked' voice. Ren also appears to be in the flash back with a group of others similarly dressed. Snoke makes a reference to the "Knights of Ren". My theory is that Lukes jedi learners broke away from him, and formed the Knights of Ren, of which Kylo is the leader. However the youngest learner was left on Jukku - Rey.

I still think that Kylo will turn to the light side, and Rey will be pushed to the edge of the dark side. Much anger in her I sense.

Its also interesting that Finn is unconscious at the end of the film. I think that the love interest for the next film is definitely Rey/Finn. Finns fate will determine the way that Kylo and Rey go.

Another interesting thing that i found is that it isnt Darth Snoke, or Darth Ren. Making me think that these are just dark side followers not full on sith. This ties into me earlier theory that the Knights of Ren will be the main protagonists for the next film. It also means that the sith rule of two doesnt apply, so more baddies can be set up for future films.

Whilst Domnal Gleeson produces a good turn as a nazi general, they should have dyed his hair. All I can see is him as a ginger Weasely.

They didnt have to kill Han. Hit me a bit harder on the second viewing.

Also how much CGI/other actors is Chewie? Peter Meyhew is very low down on the billing, too low to justify the character of Chewbacca.

I have to see the next film.

The person saying that was Unkar Plutt

Yeah I think so.

Obviously I meant to say blowing up

Im really looking forward to rogue one next December now. I wonder if it will presented in the same style as force awakens in terms of how it's shot and produced. Force awakens was very different to the prequel trilogy in terms of the shooting angles etc that were used.

That's because JJ knows how to direct!

Oh and the growing up/ blowing up bit, I knew exactly what you meant, I just had a wise crack!

Peter Meyhew's knees are knackered, so he was only Chewie when he was sitting now. There's another actor credited as Chewbacca Double.

Does it really matter who's in the suit? I get that it's a "performance" but the fact you can't tell whilst watching the film if it's Meyhew or some guy shows that he isn't actually that important for the character.

Mayhew is borderline disabled judging from seeing him in interviews etc. so it's definitely not him playing Chewie the majority of the time, at least not when he's running about. I imagine they put him in the suit for scenes where he's seated and co-piloting the Falcon as more of a ceremonial gesture.

That is because he did play a Weasely. Bill Weasely, actually.
