Absolute nonsense.

This is a much better video than the Angry Joe one and completely sums up my feelings. An enjoyable film with some baffling poor choices.

No doubt after a bollocking from Disney for bringing bad press to their money making machine.

I'm pretty sure the creative differences between him and Johnson were resolved during production and the recent clip from the Independent is him retelling the story (which they've edited to make it look like Hamill's giving a fresh take to play off of the fan reactions for clicks).

twitter.com/HamillHimself/status/942488271753330688

While their creative differences were known about for a while, there was no controversy swirling around it at the time of this tweet. And I can't see him having to tweet this as a result of a "bollocking by Disney", before then going on to #notmyskywalker in an interview, and then receiving a second "bollocking by Disney" and having to say he's happy with Johnson's take again. Doesn't make any strawberry floating sense

It’s not nonsense at all. Saying his character arc is not believable is though.

It's complete nonsense as Mark Hamill's opinion has not influenced other people's at all. Maybe you have more experience of people having a complete personality shift for no reason.

Mark Hamill's dissatisfaction with the Luke arc was one of the most prevalent talking points around the film pre and post release. To state unequivocally that it had no influence of public opinion is a hell of a thing to claim.

It's also an incorrect thing to claim.

This is worst way, the worst way, to watch films. Any film. It is the equivalent of going to a Taylor Swift concert and doing a running commentary of how poor her choice in men is.

Urgh.

Based on what exactly? I haven't seen it mentioned in anything I've read or watched about the film other than on here. If lots of people are using Hamill's as validation for their opinions then I apologise. The changes made to Luke's character are hardly subtle and issues easily justifiable, I can't see a situation where someone is on the fence and eventually swayed by Marl Hamill.

I guess i was just not engaged enough with what was going on, to the point that i started considering the economic impact of big ships being blown up more than being taken along for the ride. I've never been a massive Star Wars fan, but now i care even less. I'm sorry for daring to besmirch it without prior vetting.

Of course, and probably because the reverse vampires, along with the rand corporation, told him to. Much more plausible than him just having an opinion.

How are reverse vampires comparable to Disney telling one of their lead Star Wars actors to stop bad mouthing the film in the press?! I think it's a certain someone had a word with him. Whether he genuinely changed his opinion or not we'll never know, but I think he must have felt pretty strongly about it to talk about it in the press to begin with.

I didn't see any of the Luke commentary by Hamill prior (or even a trailer!) and I was fine with the Luke arc. I think people forget that Luke is a pretty poor jedi when it comes to controlling his emotions.

Either way you view it, you cannot deny the influence MH would have on you. You would go from oblivious cinema go-er like me to someone who may be looking to validate (or disprove) a view of the film given to you.

I saw Thor:Ragnarok after seeing the trailer and a YT title card that said Thor:R Funniest Marvel Film Ever. I spent the whole film criticing its funny over enjoying much to my own annoyance off of this alone, so I know it can influence viewers. Which is why I try and avoid trailers and hype.

I'm asking of you what you are of me: based on what? You say it had no influence based on the fact it had no influence on you. And?

To answer your question I believe it had an impact. One way or the other. It was all over social and traditional media, it's been roundly quoted by those with gripes against the film, and Hamill himself has had to step in an retract his grievances.

So yes. Apology accepted.

So youre saying theres no actual evidence then, got it.

That doesn't mean it didn't happen. He's hardly going to come out and say "after being told off by Kathleen Kennedy I'd like to say I actually like the film" is he?

I just can't imagine Disney not having a major issue with the biggest Star Wars name attached to the project publicly criticising it.

Your first point about not having a droid or auto pilot was very good though.

You are massively overstating how much this was circulated over social media. If you're happy to dismiss the perfectly logical problems with Luke's character as Hamill fans review bombing that's fair enough. The character arc demonstrably shows a complete personality change though.

So, how about that bit when the Millennium Falcon goes through that tunnel.

It was a terrible idea to change the whole personality of the Falcon. In the original trilogy the Falcon would have flown OVER it, but this new film just strawberry floated over the entire established Falcon personality by getting it to fly through.

I’m strawberry floating outraged. :x
