I've got bad news, Mark hamill said some bad things in an interview so you now have to change your opinion and not like it.

Sorry m8.

Ahh fair point I ahve now seen those comments and agree that despite liking it seeing a cast member say a bad thing makes me realise I am totally wrong and that is is actually gooseberry fool.

A lot of the people in here sound like they are hopelessly defending this film, rather much in the same way I'll defend Phantom Menace until my dying days! :shifty:

Still struggling with the Luke thing. Just can't get past the idea that he would be tempted to murder his nephew having seen him unable to force himself to kill Vader. And I mean murder. Not just fight to the death. Or a causality of war. But kill him in his sleep when he was his mentor and teacher and probably father figure. Did Luke forget his own experiences in the dark side tree?

It really isn't helped by only seeing this scene. The more I think about it the more it makes things worse. Mainly because the films have copped out with Snoke. We've been repeatedly told Snoke tempted Ben. But how? And why did Ben even want to turn? Surely he'd have to have been really far gone for Luke to react that way. Were none of the other students even tempted? It seems to be pretty common for a jedi student to have to deal with those feelings. Perhaps if we'd actually seen more it could have worked. Perhaps if young Ben was presented as a genuine risk and danger I could stomach it. But nah Snoke just tempted and corrupted him at some point somehow apparently but we've got time for a pointless trip to a casino world and for a purple haired lady and some dude to argue and for a shoehorned cameo from butt hole eyes.

Regardless it doesn't stop just about everything else (all the resistance stuff) being either dull as strawberry float or stupid as strawberry float.

You've ignored the fact that Luke saw a glimpse of Ben's future and in that future he knows that he would be evil and there was nothing he could do to stop it. That's why he thought of killing him, but then when he realised the future is never set in stone and that's when he stops, but by then it's too late.

Ben see's Luke as someone who has betrayed him and whatever good he had left he lost at that moment. Any trust he once had was gone.

Phantom Menace was great as a kid, and pretty enjoyable as an adult. It's nowhere near as cringeworthy as Attack of the Clones (which is redeemed by the subsequent and excellent Clone Wars cartoon), and I even find Jar Jar bearable as an overplayed slapstick comic relief.

I would love to see Disney "remaster" AotC and RotS with real actors playing clones, maybe a few more clone scenes too. In RotS, I'd love to see the reinstatement of the cut scene wherein several senators, Padme Amidala included, confront Palpatine in his office about his war powers or resigning after the war's end or something. The scene is set in the evening, its orange glow lighting up the room, and Anakin is stood just behind Palpatine, silhouetted ominously against the sunset skyline.

I’m still not sure if I liked The Last Jedi or not. I’m not the biggest Star Wars fan though so I’m not fussed if it was good or bad.

I just find some of the hate for it amusing. Luke’s personality changed over the 30 years since we last saw him? How outrageous that somebody at 60 might be different to how they were at 30.

I havent said my piece on The Last Jedi. Went to see it before Christmas and overall I really enjoyed it. Not as much as Force Awakens, but I did like a lot more than I disliked. Don't understand people saying its worse than the first two prequels at all.

However I must say after the first half hour I had some really serious questions about how bad the film was (Leia force pulling herself nearly made me burst out laughing it was so ridiculous). It just got a lot better as it went on. It was a bit over the place quality wise, with stuff like the casino really dragging it down, but the fact remains that the stuff I liked I really, really liked. All the Rey/Luke stuff was awesome, and it was just a treat to get to watch Hamill in action, he was by far the best thing about the film.

I also loved the fact the twists weren't obvious and the film kept me guessing. I mean the fact Leia survives the film was the biggest twist of all! I liked the fact they broke the lineage and started playing with what we consider normal. That whole Snoke scene was brilliant, the final moments with Luke were great, and his heart to heart with R2DS was a highlight. I didnt think Luke was out of character at all, it felt like a natural progression for Luke in a world with what he prevented having come back.

I think the things that pissed me off were more weird. Those bloody CG alien horse things, and Rey delivering herself in a weird shoe box to Kylo Ren. Also I felt Finn was a bit wasted, hes got the potential to be the most interesting character in the new trilogy but he never really had any tough decisions to make.

At its worst it was the worst of Lucas. At its best, it was up there with the best. It was all OVER the strawberry floating place! But I enjoyed it and I think over time people will come to appreciate it more, not less.

I neither loved it nor loathed it, it was just OK. As with the prequel trilogy, I'm not really interested in seeing it again TBH.

I think what we're missing here is that like should've just put his non-ignited lightsaber against Ben's head and pushed the button.

Of course he was going to wake up with you waving a big buzzing laser sword above him. Luke

I think it's more than that, the entire reason from him going from how he was in the original series to how he was in this film just didn't make sense.

He wouldn't kill Vader in ROTJ despite his crimes and genocide, but wanted to murder Kylo, his own nephew, practically a child, because he had bad thoughts. I can get over them making him grumpy, but turning him into a complete coward and refusing to defend billions of lives is completely removed from the character.

I think the major problem with Star Wars at the moment is that nobody has a long term plan for the story. I think JJ Abrams could potentially rectify things when he returns for the finale, but the problem with JJ is that he has extremely bad form finding a suitable ending for his films.

product placement has gone TOO FAR.

I still wish they’d had podracers rather than weird CGI horses.

Luke did kind of single-handedly murder 1.7 million people when he blew up the first death star so idk
