You'll love this game man. First off, you don't create a character, you start off with one assigned to you. You meet other characters as the trailer shows and you decide to let them into your compound which you set up near start (after 30mins in State of Decay 1).

You go out to towns to collect resources and your characters level up appropriately, in how much they carry, combat but also how they adapt to being a doctor (if you don't find one) a Gardner and so on. Best shooter would be put in look out tower for example.

The kicker is perma-death, if a character gets killed he or she is toast, although trailer now shows infection is also an added toll into the mixture. The late game becomes a choice of risking your high level bad asses or some newbie. The Newbie will bring back less stuff etc. It's a tense balancing act, that's not even mentioning resource management, job assignments and social tensions between members of your compound.

At some stage you're also going to have to move compound completely when resources in nearby towns have gone or you've run out of space.

Still looks fairly janky to me. I've played the first one to completion twice so I guess I'll be giving this a spin.

Interested to see how co-op works, I pressume one persons game will be the 'host' for things going forward. 3 maps on launch with DLC ones coming means I might play this for years to come.

It killed me finishing the first one, I played it every night for about a month.

Sounds like it could be really good as a co-op with both helping to create and defend a compound.

I really enjoyed the first game but wasn't sure of the whole "the game keeps going and resources are used when you turn the system off" thing. On 360 my main character with the best stats mysteriously died that way and I strawberry floated the game off after that.

That would be hugely frustrating if you've spent ages on a character and he died simply because you had to go to work and he decided to wander off a cliff or go on a mysterious rampage.
The idea of it constantly evolving is fine but in reality people have lives so can't be about to check at all times so the game needs to go into some kind of suspend or at least massively slow down time to something like 1 real day is 1 hour in game time.

Really looking forward to this.

Finally we're going to get the co-op mode that was promised to us years ago.

Its set in the same town as the original? I recognise some of the locations.

Fabian Delph is a banana split.

It's much more simplistic than what I think you have in mind. But yeah, base building in this was relatively fun.

Out 22nd May for $30 -

http://www.ign.com/videos/2018/03/06/st ... lay-teaser

Enjoy this teaser for IGN's month of exclusive State of Decay 2 coverage. Tune in for our full gameplay reveal on March 7 at 9am PT. (NOTE: All footage captured in 4K resolution on PC.)

March's IGN First game is State of Decay 2, the highly anticipated zombie survival simulation/open-world adventure/RPG from Undead Labs. We'll have exclusive coverage all month long, and all of it will be archived on this page, so feel free to bookmark it and check back often for our latest gameplay videos, features, and more!

Microsoft has confirmed that State of Decay 2, the zombie-survival RPG from Undead Labs, will release on May 22 for the Xbox One family of consoles as well as Windows PC as a Play Anywhere title. It will also be available that day on Xbox Game Pass. Furthermore, Microsoft also confirmed a price point of $29.99 for the standard edition and $49.99 for the Ultimate Edition.

On the subject of the lower-than-expected price, Microsoft GM of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg said, “Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise. We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game.”

The aforementioned Ultimate Edition will include early access to State of Decay 2 on May 22 and a free Xbox One copy of State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition as well as the Independence Pack and Daybreak Pack DLCs, which will be released at a TBD date.

State of Decay 2 is the long-anticipated sequel to the surprise multi-million-selling zombie apocalypse sim that debuted on Xbox Live Arcade in June 2013. The sequel was unveiled at E3 2016 and runs on Unreal Engine 4, replacing the original game’s CryEngine. It promises four-player co-op multiplayer, which IGN will show off – along with much, much more – all month long. It’s all part of IGN First, our monthly editorial initiative where we dive deep into a game we’re excited about.

I’m such a huge fan of this game that’ll I’ll probably buy the special edition just to play it on a Friday rather than a Tuesday. :fp:

That's crossing over into full on mark territory to be honest.
