stuff from that dev video:

Merchandise store - probably won't happen until after launch, licensing issues with previous Vendor.

Backpacks - just like the old game, big and smaller backpacks. large lets you carry more stuff, but your character's personal weight limit might not do well with a larger backpack, gotta manage the weight vs your stamina. just like the first game.

smaller melee weapons like screw drivers. every character has a smaller weapon that they always have with them that has limited reach and doesn't break. bigger weapons like swords etc.. have better reach and break over time. Can specialize to be good with certain weapons, similar to the first game.

blood plague - when attacked by a blood plague infected zombie a white meter will appear above the mini map, that bar will fill up, will need to go home and rest to get it to go away. once filled up though you become infected and you get another meter with a countdown timer. It will countdown until you are dead and turned into a blood plagued zombie. You will need to get plague samples from plague hearts to produce a cure, you can also execute the infected person if you don't want to cure them. One player does turn into a zombie during that video, near the end I think.

Blood Plague Zombies gather around the Plague Hearts. If you destroy Plague Hearts you will stop plague zombies from spawning in that area. Hitting plague hearts with a Hammer as seen in the video...is not the best way to fight them. Explosives and fire are good. Noise Distractors to draw the zombies away so you can fight the Plague Heart is good as well.

Colors above players heads - each coop player in your group will have a different color, so if you set a waypoint you will be able to tell which player set it.

Friendly Fire is off. They want people to work together and don't want people trolling and killing characters permanently. Of course players might make mistakes that could still lead to other people's characters death.

will be able to turn off the tooltip tutorial messages. should go away as you play too.

No offline simulation (game world won't progress when you are not playing like the first game before the DLC). (you can play the game offline and in single player if this statement is confusing to anyone).

Snow plow on pickup trucks are apparently super fun.

You are bringing one of your characters from your single player game into their single player game. however you equiped your character, that equipment will follow you into multiplayer. You will have access to your own supply locker at their base. So if you find something in their world you can put it in your supply locker at their base and keep it for yourself. Or you could be generous and take stuff out of your supply locker at their base and give it to them. You don't have access to your friend's supply locker, can't steal their stuff.

Can you repair stuff - yes. can't answer the exact process yet. More when they show base building.

Game is a SIngle Player game that you can play with your friends if you want to. SP, you will obviously have to be more careful and use more tactics if you don't have a group wiith you.

Cross Play between Windows 10 and Xbox One. Yes.

Looting in Multiplayer - when entering a building each of you can see what containers you can loot (via a colored icon, same color above your player's head). It kinda simulates the idea of multiple people coming into a room and noticing different things. To get the most out of a buildinig you will want to share and colloraborate to get the most things that you can. There is a good reason to bring friends with you scavenging because you can discover more together than playing solo.

the map size may look small in the video but they say its roughly the size of the map in the orignal game, the icons scale when zooming out so it may make it appear smaller. Also there are 3 maps so 3 times the fun. Maps are more dense as well. they are not sure if IGN will show the other maps, they are ready to shown off though.

game takes place 15 months after the outbreak. first game is 2 weeks after the outbreak.

Plague Hearts are not a replacement for infestations. They are still in the game. Can see both in the video playthrough.

Difficulty does not scale when you bring multiplayer in. It scales as your community gains experience and develops. The first Plague Heart you fight might not actually be hard, but they get much harder over time. Bringing Friends in is not a way to make the game harder but a way to manage the difficulty as it increases on its own.

Once you are zombie from the blood plague, you don't have free will anymore. so no chasing your friends around. Prevents trolling. You should be able to watch your zombie self kill your friends though.

AI controlled players can come along on your adventure, just like the first game. So you are not completely on your own if you are not playing with Friends.

Looting specific places will have logical loot. Ambulance will have medical stuff etc.. You will find what you expect to find at places.

Trunk Sizes increases? they aren't sure if its different from the first game. It varies from Car to Car.

They will come back and talk about base building etc.. once IGN posts their videos.

Learning Special Attacks - don't want to go into it much right now but its similar to the first game but gets a little bit more complex. Gain XP by doing a style of combat a lot and then you can specialize it later. The tackle and throw over the shoulder move you see is a special attack. Different characters can specialize in different ways.

the mission UI in the Video is being blocked by IGN's name thing in the top right. (thanks IGN).

references to fans in the game, there are easter eggs spread across the map. One of the Fan's face is in the game, had to shave their beard they had been growing for years because their tool doesn't handle beards very well. Also, beards are not very good with Zombies, they can grab on to them. So Pro-Tip when the Zombies hit.

They will get into the weapons and how they work later. But there are a nice variety in the game.

Coffin icons on the map, its where a character has died. Player hasn't gone back and gotten their stuff so its still marked on the map.

Price. The first game was inexpensive and they built an incredible community because it was accessible and they wanted to continue that trend. They are in it for the long haul. Microsoft is taking the franchise seriously. They want to build a large community and continue to support this game and update it over time.

The Cars handle much better, and each handle differently.

and yes you can kick people that are trolling, host has that option.

After watching the dev vid (thanks Monkey) and listening to Unlocked I'm REALLY excited for this. The other NPC survivors are now procedural-y generated as are their traits, a person could have asthma so can't run as far as others, a mechanic is better with hand weapons (as well as working in a garage). It should mean everyones game is different as they bring in survivors to their camps, some of them could be real trouble makers, going so far as to potentially trying to kill another member, personally I'm gonna dome those mofo's or at very least bring them with me/use them in a ridiculously hard scavenger run.

When playing online all the stuff you've collected and have placed in your home stash is selectable when in another persons game, as are all the characters you can choose. You can share anything with anyone but can't take from their stash and they can't take from yours. Houses also now have stuff to scavenge per player so it would have a chest or something for me but not for others but I cans still see theirs so it pushes communication.

I can see plague cures being given to other players online for guns and stuff. 2 months after Sea of Thieves this looks to be an excellent multi player experience again. Think I'm going for the €50 special edition tbh.

Permadeath, resource management, relationship building, vehicle procurement, maximizing your community’s skills, building outposts, trying to figure out which survivors are friends or foes – all of it and more are what made State of Decay special. And State of Decay 2 deepens all of these systems and more, with the result being a game the Undead Labs team had to peel me away from after I spent two days with it. It’s fair to wonder how it’s going to run on a stock Xbox One – I only played it on a high-end PC, to which an Xbox One X should compare nicely – but from what I’ve seen so far, State of Decay 2 may be a steal at $30. And playing it reminded me that, annoyingly, there haven’t been any State of Decay copycats in the five years since the first game. Thankfully, the real thing returns soon enough.

What has price got to do with the quality of a game?
We've all seen shovelware sold at full price and nailed on classics get released for budget prices.
Price doesn't really mean anything.

To anyone who has spent significant time with the first one, it’s obvious as to why State of Decay 2 is coming in cheaper than full price - the first game is pretty, pretty janky and shonky and the 2nd is going to be too, from what I can see. However, what it lacks in triple A polish, it has in ambition, and scope. It has some great ideas, and creates a brilliant atmosphere, an engrossing game world to be part of. Sometimes that’s all you can ask for, really.

Hopefully it's just a case of them being aggressive on price to try and sell more units. Maybe from now on all games that are on Game Pass will be cheaper?

Honestly, I’m more excited about this game more than any other. It’s hard to describe what undead has created here but if you think you know Zombie games, you haven’t played anything like State of Decay. I can’t think of a single zombie game that comes near it.

I love zombie games but could I hell get into State of Decay. Found it boring, tried it a few times but couldn't bring myself to play more than an hour or 2.

It’s a slow burner at the start alright, after several hours when your managing your community and outposts are when I comes into its own. Managing who to rest, who should be on watch, which one is best qualified to be a doctor. Tending to your garden, there’s a lot of depth. It’s the nearest a game comes to the walking dead’s feel.
