Depends on how far the tethering is but it’d Be nice if I was searching a house for supplies and hosts base was being attacked that he could head off to tackle and I’d follow rather than wait about. It may not be an issue at all but to know it’s there is annoying.

A lot of previews are mentioning its jankiness (on Xbox One) which is worrying, Undead Labs guys said it's a six week old build but still, very concerning.

Apart from that the previews are pretty positive, basically if you liked the first one you'l like this so that's me in a nutshell. It takes the base and community mechanic and goes deeper than first game, again something I'd love, it introduces it slowly too for newbies.

State of Decay works the best when things go tits up. I remember many a game when I set out to pick up supplies that were needed, some that weren't but would help top up stuff and things would go to gooseberry fool. I'd stop off and get jumped on by a feral, or walk around the corner in a town to discover a juggernaut, both those enemy types can end your character, driving back half dead in a battered car while you're stamina is low but getting supplies to base is exhilarating and that has that game play loop intact going by previews.

Tethering -

State of Decay 2 won't allow co-op players in a shared world to roam freely. Instead, for performance reasons, you will be tethered to the host as you move around the game's sizable open world. This is similar to other co-operative games such as Far Cry 5.

In our hands-on session with the game, we didn't find the tethering range to be restrictive, or even noticeable, as you work together to plunder the haunted ruins of zombie-infested America. You can't go running off in different directions to do separate missions, however. When you drive a significant distance away from your friends, they will "hitch a ride" towards you. The distance feels generous enough that most co-op players shouldn't really notice it.

Got a weird message from xbox live this morning saying due to a problem at their end they had cancelled and refunded my State of Decay 2 purchase with a link to buy it again....which I did...

It updated yesterday, I wonder if something went wrong.

Looks really good, haven't finished the first one so won't buy, which is a shame, watching a pc stream on mixer, this 60fps on Xbox s/X? Looks so smooth on pc.

All the NPC interactions be it cut scenes, voice acting, animations, etc look like they've been lifted straight from the PS2 :dread: :lol:

Actual game looks pretty fun though, they might have missed the window on zombies though. I can see the looting catch bit catch on as there is it has a lot of similarities to battle royale.

Reviews are 7/10’s seems biggest negatives are the amount of bugs. Not really acceptable tbh. Sure they’ll be patched out in time but still.

As with Sea of Thieves, why did Microsoft feel the need to release the game in this state?

It must be horrible for their development teams (who I'm certainly not slating here and take pride in their work) to put their name against half finished projects.

As you say, issues will be patched in time, but by then it's already made a mixed first impression and lost a bunch of potential customers (as seen by the amount of people on here who gave up on SOT and have no intention of returning).
