I believe wired ones work at least, but not sure about wireless ones. At the very least I imagine you'd need the windows USB dongle.

The Store page agrees:

Supports Steam Controller (sold separately,) Xbox One or 360 Wired Controller, Xbox 360 Wireless Controller for Windows, Logitech Wireless Gamepad F710, or keyboard and mouse

It doesn't mention whether the X1 wireless adapter will work, but presumably it will in time if not straight away. I think the Steam Controller works without any extra adapters.

Valve confirmed it will work.

Controller arrived today. Trackpads will take some getting used to, but loving it otherwise.

It seems not...

Correction on October 23: A week after posting this, Valve has now told GamesBeat that the Wireless Adapter for Windows 10 will not work with Steam Link or Steam Machines. We apologize for the error.

Hopefully it'll be patched in at some point.

I imagine it'll be patched in at some point. If the wireless adapters are new, the drivers probably haven't been built yet.

They really should have been though.

The Valve guy on the Steam forums thread about it certainly didn't make it sound like it ever would be coming.

The fact that the thing only works on Win10 makes me think Microsoft have put some lock in the actual hardware that needs some part of that OS to even function. Like, why not put a driver out for 8.1 too?

Pretty much. We've been here before. This is basically a repeat of them attempting to push everyone onto Vista by not supporting DX11 on XP.

Though, it's a much easier deal to sell, since Win 10 has that first year upgrade window. They've really pushed out all the stops to get everyone on Win 10 so they don't have to support legacy windows installs.

My Link works fantastically well with homeplugs. I couldn't get it to connect to my wireless network but I only tested that out of curiosity as it will be using a wired connection. Disney Infinity and Street Fighter IV worked without any noticeable issues but it took a bit of work to run Dolphin. I'm looking forward to playing more games from my Comfy Couch™.

Is getting non-steam games to stream (ie, Origin and gog.com installations) as simple as just creating a shortcut to them within Steam?

Pity because Windows 10 is a glitchy mess for me so I've gone back to Windows 8 . I'm sticking with that as long as possible now.

Also I ordered a steam link. Hope it's here soon.

Just seen this update which has been released and steam link now has wii u pro controller bluetooth support.

Steam Link build 370
We've just released an update of the Steam Link firmware.

Changes:
Future automated updates won’t play sound or turn on the TV
Fixed color space issue when the Steam Link wakes from sleep mode
Added a 60 second Wake On LAN step when trying to connect to offline computers
Added the ability to stream from Mac host computers (experimental!)
Added support for the XBox Elite Controller, when connected via USB
Added support for the Wii-U Pro Controller, when connected via Bluetooth
Added advanced network settings to configure a static IP address
Set the hostname to "steamlink" so it can be easily found in router tables
Prefer the last connected wireless network at startup instead of the one with the strongest signal

Yep.

It's also possible to return to your desktop from the Steam Link so you can use Windows. The option is in the same menu as turning off the Link itself. The downside is that you can't configure the Steam Controller outside of Big Picture Mode so I'm going to connect my Xbox controllers tonight and test it out a bit more.

I'm very interested in the Steam Link, had to sacrifice my study where the PC used to live as apparently it was needed as a bedroom for our newborn! So now if I want to use the PC I'm on some cramped little table in the corner of our bedroom, beaming everything to the lounge would definitely be an improvement!

Any idea if you can pick these up instore anywhere or is it all online delivery?

Game is the only bricks and mortar carrying the link and controller in the UK.

I think GAME might be doing them in stores.

Had this for just nearly a month, managed to get one of the earlier releases. Love the controller, not really suited towards the FPS sort of games. Used it a lot for Rocket League and Broforce but you are to attached keyboards and mouses to it which help. Really happy with my purchase!
