Anyone tried this yet? Does it taste better or worse than the standard Stella Artois (5.2% ABV)

Grolsch are also rolling out a 4% variant.
I like Grolsch, so I might try theirs.

I've never liked the taste of Stella anyway, and it always gave me a stinking headache (And that's hours after drinking it, and not the morning after!)
But I doubt Stella drinkers are going to get weened off onto the watered down version anyway.

Agreed. I could only see this being a popular choice if you were driving and fancied a couple in your local, being as it's even weaker than the likes of Carling and that sieved cat wee they call Fosters.

Stella is pretty much the only beer I drink, but I have no intention of trying a 4% version.

I doubt it will ever be available near where I live anyway.

Meh.

Its not that popular around here. The owner of my local said to me once that if I didn't drink it it wouldn't be in stock.

Everyone seems to drink Tennents around here :fp:

I like Stella too, but it depends what my plans are, a full night of drinking stella and i would be wrecked with a killer hangover, so the lower % stuff may be worth a punt.

The problem is that its been involved in the whole Chav culture and at 32 I want as little to do with Chav culture as I can. I could go back to drinking neat triple Vodkas like I used to but that just ended up with me being an alcoholic nutjob with a passion for drunken dancing (I used to love being first on the dance floor in nightclubs even though I dance like a complete tosspot).

Stella has a bad reputation but its about the only beer I like except for some really good stuff I had from Holland while trying out a pub for a mate wife's birthday party (no idea what it was called and it was £4 which is a tad steep if you ask me).

Crispy, have you tired Peroni?

It's my absolute favourite lager. Plus the huge 660ml bottles are awesome :D
It's got a nice strong taste and it's very crisp. And at the risk of sounding like a knob, it's got a lovely caramel aftertaste.

Peroni is OK and I do drink it now and again while out and about. I try to test most drinks though and am not averse to doing top shelf challenges if it looks like they have an interesting selection.

Becks is my weapon of choice.
