A lot of the marketing twiddle is hipster bullshit, the beers however are usually very very well made.

Try and avoid to start with the heavily hopped ipas and such as they will just offend your pallet, you need to build up to them like you would with chillies.

Try some craft red ales they would be a good place to start as there will be a lot of parity with what you are used to in the flavour.

Build up like chillies? My first ever chilli was amazingly Hotmail I never liked spicy food until then. Now I have chilli, curry and other spicy stuff weekly.

Basically grab a mega hot chilli and bang it in your mouth.

Thanks for the tips, I'll definitely try out some of the red ales.

My issue with the craft beers is more around the perception of them than anything - I should give the product a chance to prove itself rather than being put off by the packaging/promotion/clique culture surrounding them!

Yeah the stuff around some is strawberry floating idiotic.

Take a look at brewers like Magic Rock, Stone and Cloudwater they are awesome but less twatty in image, Cloudwater i would happily count as my favourite brewer they are absolutly incredible.

The "normal" on I find vile, but their new "Cloudy Apple" one isn't too bad.

I like Peroni but it's a bit too pricey for just beer. Usually only have it when eating out somewhere.
