What's wrong with getting drunk for cheap?

No idea, but if you aren't eating Kobe beef whenever you have steak you are pure scum.

its much cheaper and easier to get drunk on vodka or spirits than on weak beer; youll spend longer in the toilet than drunk!

I still maintain the best drink is the one you have in your fridge. Sometimes money is tough and you buy what you can afford. Or if you're hosting a house party you buy 2 big boxes of beer so everyone can have a drink.

Don't get me wrong I can tell the difference but the way I look at it is it's all getting pissed away shortly after so who cares as long as it destresses you.

Tbh coffee snobs are just as bad, Jesus I fell down a coffee YouTube hole the other day and some of those nerds spend more time making it than drinking it.

youve made a whole load of different points there but the "its all getting pissed away" is a terrible argument.
may as well drink Huel instead of eating anything its all coming out of your arse later!
i fully understand parties, people having money issues etc., and it being a nice cheap way to relieve tension and relax but i still maintain id rather do that with a decent beer or not at all/use some other method
each to their own

Guess what I meant by that is I don't see the point getting all pretentious about something as fleeting as a beverage. I refer back to the bourdain quote I posted a page ago.

This isn't a very good example because loads of people have strong views on steak cuts, and how they should be cooked.

Why is preferring to drink good beer than gooseberry fool beer considered snobbery/elitism? Do the people that hold this opinion extend the same logic to every other product/service?

I think what's snobbery is people assuming what they drink is "good beer" and what someone else drinks is "gooseberry fool beer". Sometimes people enjoy different things, it's crazy I know.

The beers mentioned in the first post are objectively gooseberry fool though. If I were to say that The Shawshank Redemption is a better film than The Boss Baby, would that make me a film snob?

I'll try and explain why someone would be "all pretentious" about it.

I started drinking ales at 18 when i stqteted working on a pub that served 5 different knew that changes basically every day, i found the flavours interesting how using the sewn ingredients you could get some really subtle notes of fruits and biscuit and all kinds of other stuff.

I developed and i got into craft beer for the same thing the variety and the taste.

I don't drink beer to get buzzed or her drunk, i seink it to experience the new flavours, to try new things.

if I'm on a bender of a night i will drink a different beer each round because i ain't stand the idea of having the same flavour for every single beer, what's the point its dull and boring and means you might miss something.

That's what bugs me about these mass lager beer drinkers, it isn't that "my beer is better then their beer" or that they at inferior or whatever that's just snobbery and dickheadedness, what i struggle with is that people don't want to try other things, that given a choice they just have the same taste every pint everytime they go to the oub without thinking "hmm i wonder what else there is"

That's what confuses me that their is now desire to see what other stuff rates like.

Some people will and then think argh ales is horrible and fair enough they tried, but those they don't i just don't get it.

It's why i have been so impressed and fascinated by Pedzs adventous into beer, he has for ages said he only drinks Carona and suddenly is giving stuff a go and finding other flavours he likes, it is awesome to see and shows the key point here that you can't stop trying beers, there will be loads you hate, but there will be loads you like and a few you will love, but unless you try then and be adventurous and risk trying something that sounds a bit odd you will never know.

It's like living a life without herbs and spices, yeah you cab do it sure, but where is the fun in it, and beer should be fun it should be enjoyed you should be able to go "that beer was awesome" it shouldn't be forgotten about the second the glass goes down and the bar person says "another mate?"
