I'm being a slight jerk in that I'm playing devil's advocate because what I drink would generally be classed as craft beer. Just think these things can all coexist.

Also can't stand this aesthetic, but that's me being a snob now:

I don't mind the chalk boards, some places it is needed if they have a lot of taps like at CASC in Aberdeen, ans I've always likes plain brick but yeah the rest of it is a bit twatty.

That said every hipster joint coffee, beer, or otherwise that doesn't have those filament bulb thing always goes out of business the fastest.

That was a good post Errkal. I'm massively intolerant of fussy eaters, it annoys me to see people so disgusted by fairly ordinary food and being completely unwilling to try to be things. Like you, I like to be adventurous but not to dive into the world of elitism and pretentious wankery but to get new flavours and experiences. However I would argue that it's easier with food to call something objectively better but I enjoy a kebab and chips just as much as fine dining. With beer you're taking about something relatively simplistic and fairly similar in price so the suggestion that one is 'vastly superior' and "I couldn't possibly drink that swill" is a bit ridiculous. When you're talking about flavours I'm with you every time. We have lots of good pubs here with a big selection and I'll always have the similar conversation of "I'm not into overly hoppy beer or really heavy stuff but I'd like to try something new, what would you recommend?". I tried a peanut butter beer in America last year and loved it so I'm always up for trying something different.

This is a bit of a nasty thread, isn't it.

Whenever I'm in a bar, which is a shamefully frequent event, I'll plump for whatever is on tap that is an IPA and sits between 4-5% ABV.

I wonder how much money I would have if I didn't spend so much of my time drinking beer at £5/pint.

I've always been a real ale man myself and I must admit I do tend to look down on most of this craft beer stuff as "hipster bullshit", I should give some of it I try really.

The plebs were ahead of the game, they've been drinking non mainstream 10% beer for years.

Pleb drinks. It only counts as proper drinking if you drink beers that nobody has ever heard of.
