I own many of them, television revolutionized culture, iPod's just a slightly smaller Walkman with a HDD.

Revolutionized portable music players, being able to store vast quantities of music on your little device.

Er, I think TV had a slightly bigger impact. IPod wasn't even the first MP3 player.

If you can't see how that revolutionised the music industry then you are, to be perfectly frank, a moron.

Maybe not the first, but it outsold all of the competition combined to date.

MP3's revolutionized the music industry, not the Apple iPod. Regardless, the cultural impact was dwarfed by television.

I'd still put the TV above it as an invention and in terms of impact.

MP3 players were great, but the explosion of popularity didn't really happen until the iPod came along. In fact, iPod is now pretty much synonymous with MP3 player.

Television allowed millions to see the Queen's coronation, England winning the world cup, the moon landing, 9/11. iPod just gave tossers a more convenient way to listen to gooseberry fool Riannah songs.

I'm so glad I didn't start watching this, or I'd have ended up having to satisfy my pathological need to see what won with my own eyes. As with just about every list show, I'd have probably ended up reacting like Denster has.

Ok you don't like Ipods - which makes you sound silly and a little bit petulant.
Saying TV is better is one thing but saying Ipods aren't a stupendous invention is ludicrous.

The best thing about the iPod is podcasts, that's all I use it for. An iPod that can play the radio and record radio shows and lets store and play them back whenever you want to, a bit like sky+ but for radio...that's what I want. I never listened to the radio before podcasts. Plus I want to be able to download them from the iPod itself, rather than having to use the computer, because having to connect my ipod, find and download podcasts, copy over, and disconnect iPod is not that seamless of a process and is something I do about 3 times a week.
