Incredible mind, and to think he lasted that long with motor neurone disease.
I'm actually currently reading A Brief History of Time as well.

Rip :(

Stephen Hawking was the only person to appear on Star Trek as themselves. During his time touring the Star Trek set, when they got to Engineering, Hawking said of the warp core engine: "I am going to build that".

He also asked to sit in the captain's chair.

I read on one of the articles about him that he once appeared in Red Dwarf, any idea as to which episode that was?

It wasn't an episode as such, it was a special clip show episode with various people talking about the show.

Quite the achievement to get to 76 with that disease, but still very sad all the same. A truly great mind, hopefully they'll name a planetary outpost after him in the future.

It's also Eisenstein's birthday.

Sad to see him go.
