Didn't realise this was being streamed. Just watched some of it back. Some classic Pedz comedy with missing his goes.

Tried the challenges just there. I like that they're teaching basic combos, though the timing window on some of them is crazy. Stuck on the second one with Ken. :fp:

It basically goes Jumping Heavy Punch > Standing Heavy Punch > Heavy Shoryuken. I can pull off all the moves in sequence, no problem, but I can't get it to progress because I must be a split second off on the execution of the Shoryuken. The Ryu training dummy always blocks it.

Some videos from our fights Tuesday night now that the Youtube app is working again.

Beat reigning champ Jiggles in our first match 8-) :toot:

And had him legit shook in our second.

It all went swimmingly after that first round let me tell you, I just didn't bother recording the rest.

I had these amazingly close final 2 rounds vs Staydead

And then lost the plot after my final fight with Jiggles. :fp:

I'm a complex beginner so I might be completely patronising you with this advice (especially as I don't know your level), but how do you input the shoryuken? The only real combo I use to punish players is a similar one to that, and it's really easy if you just slam the stick down diagonally twice and tap a punch button.

I can't link a shoryuken to combos without this shortcut. With the normal "dragon punch" commands, I mess it up.

Haven't tried the challenges myself though, so I can't say if I can pull that Ken one off. I normally use Ryu.

Just got home and done that second trial for Ken first time. Pushing the stick down twice and hitting punch tags it on to the end of a combo easily, though it might be easier to do on an arcade stick.

I have eternal trouble linking a shoryuken to Ryu's CA. Do I have to input the shoryuken fully or will two diagonals work as well?

I can't test it now to confirm that but I will say regarding cancelling the super that the Shoryuken motion counts as one of the motions for the super. So you do the Shoryuken and then just another fireball straight after and that will perform the super. No need to roll the stick twice. I suppose with that in mind, I don't see why doing the shortcut input with one fireball motion wouldn't produce a super cancel.

I did all of the challenges for all the characters yesterday and it's basically given me enough FM to buy a whole character which is pretty cool.

Two diagonals is fine, but you can use that as the first QCF of the CA.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

So the combo would be:

Diagonal-diagonal- punch

QCF-punch?

Does it matter what strength shoryuken I use? I am asking first of all for Ryu's 6 or 7th challenge I think, but also just for generally linking it into the CA.

Was there talk of playing this tonight? Feel free to add my fight ID, karl_a_m, and also my Steam, karl_a_m. (It's a new Steam account so the PCS crew will have to add me again. )

Also, any tips for playing on a Steam Controller? (My stick broke. :( ) Using the right touchpad as buttons (lights and mediums) seems more comfortable than using the actual buttons, but I can't decide if I prefer left touchpad or the analogue stick for movement. I think the touchpad set up in radial d-pad mode with directional overlap and a large dead zone is OK -- more comfortable to hold than the analogue stick, but maybe less precise? The haptics also aren't as strong as I'd like in d-pad mode, but I have trouble tatsu-ing if I take it over to the joystick mode which has better haptics.

I'd like to play tonight :D Hopefully nothing comes up again <_<

I think it would depend on what kind of character you're using in regards to the touch pad or analog stick. I'd use the analog stick for charge characters and maybe the touch pad for quarter/half circle characters? It'd be difficult to say for ones like Chun Li or Alex who have both kinds of moves though.

I'll be on for some games =D

I don't mean to blow my own trumpet, but I just beat the 13th ranked player in the world =D

So pleased with that! (He kicked my ass twice after that but who cares!)

I'll be using Alex if anyone wants to see him in action. I'll try and get mumble sorted out for next week
