PostSuggest me good HDD for PS3?

Heya, I'm looking to play more of my Playstation 3 sometime next year (or earlier if I get Uncharted 2 for Christmas - thats big if though) and I would like to get bigger HDD - maybe about 100gb-160gb.

The problem is, I'm crap at brands/stuff for HDDs...and it's matter of finding them at decent price. So, yeah - any recommenditions I should look at?

It basically just has to be a 2.5" SATA drive, so any of these would be alright: http://www.ebuyer.com/search?store=2&cat=4&subcat=2274. You don't need to worry too much about the speed or cache size as they all work about the same in the PS3.

You can get a 160GB HDD for about £30, but for £40 you can get a 320GB one.

320GB one at amazon for £40: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Scorpio-Internal-OEM/dp/B0011U65F2/

Very very very late reply but I thought I posted in this  (Second one, that is).

Sorry about late reply, but thanks  I happen to have more money than expected so I've ordered that 320GB HDD just now.Though, would I be able to back-up everything on my 40GB into some kind of usb stick, then restore the backup on 320gb once it's in? If I do that, do I have to re-download all of these PSN/PS1 games?

Thanks :-)

I recently upgrade from a 60gb to a 500gb, I managed to back up to a 16gb usb stick. I was going to back up to an external hard drive but I would have had to reformat it to FAT32 format and I wasn't prepared to do that.

I found that all I had to really delete to do the back up was my game data files and a few download games. How large is the USB stick you are planning on backing up to?

No idea, I got it as a birthday present. Probably ebay.

If you have to delete them before you can do the back up, yeah.

Right seems I need to delete whole about 36gb of HDD... :shifty:

Not fussed as long as I can re-download them - it's saves I want to transfer over.

Would you have to re-purchase any PSN content if you can't transfer everything across? Or does Sony know what you've bought and just let you redownload stuff?

No need to repurchase any games you have downloaded. Just go to the store and download them again. The biggest pain in the arse comes if they have updates.

Yeah you can back-up your entire HDD to a USB HDD or whatever, and then restore it. You won't have to re-download your games.
