Anything to do with games at all.

really pissed about the state of this. What a missed opportunity.

So disappointing after waiting all these years.

There is still potential to turn the game around and worse games have gone on to do very well. It depends on the quality of the dlc characters and how long between each release. Potentially it's endless dlc considering how many major heroes and villains they can use.

Opening weekend sales and active player numbers in 1 months time will probably determine if WB backs it or it goes the way of avengers.

Wish my image sig would work

But if the core gameplay is a bit dull then who really wants to keep playing unless the DLC makes big changes to the gameplay, gun play and enemy variety.

Most reviews I’ve read state it’s solid but not remarkable and a bit bland. Not a strong foundation to spin off DLC. If numbers drop off too fast it’s dead as history has proven players rarely go back to see improvements once new games have come along.

And that"s exactly the crux of the issue in terms of how it reviews; there are huge variances of opinion and - in my humble view - I believe that the fact that the game is "live, multiplayer" is a bigger issue rather than, say, the graphics or gameplay. I'm not gonna get into the situation where we post alternative review perspectives if one appears that we don't personally like; opinion is so divided that we could probably do this for several hours.

So, yeah. I'm done with talking about this particular game in GR.

 never change, jawa, never change.

By the looks of it this opened with about half of what Avengers pulled on Steam. So looking rough.

...yeah, I let frustration get the better of me. Oh well.

I just can't believe the huge variation in the responses to this game. You don't have to look too far to see YouTube vids declaring "worst game ever!" and similar... and then you see a review saying how good it is. It's pretty wild.

Digital Foundry gave a generally very positive assessment on the PS5 and XSX versions. The PC version wasn't hitting the same highs but, according to a subsequent update from DF, the probable cause has been identified so hopefully an update will arrive:
Regarding the PC version, Digital Foundry wrote:...we've learned that the image quality issues that present like Tier 1 Variable Rate Shading are actually related to the global illumination/SDF tracing upsampler. Hopefully bringing this issue to light will see Rocksteady address the problem...

And less active players than Midnight Suns which unfortunately was a massive bomb. It's dead Jim.

Oh wow. I know Midnight Suns got a huge surge of players recently, but still comparing it to a game in its opening weekend...

Ouch...

It really doesn't help having the suicide squad as the main characters. Does anyone actually like them?

what did you expect? for them to be just part of the story?

That's not what I mean - I'm saying as a theme for the game in the first place, the characters aren't likable enough to draw people in no matter what type of game it is.

King Shark is pretty cool (in the film, at least), but I'm ambivalent about the rest.

The last film they did was pretty good to be fair, but I get what you mean. Unsurprisingly, they work better as villains.

Gamecentral were not fans

In Short: The combat is good, and the script has its moments, but otherwise this is a highly repetitive open world shooter that makes very poor use of its licence.

Pros: The gunplay is great and while the traversal isn’t as good as Spider-Man 2 it’s still fun. Some genuinely funny moments and superb facial animation. Co-op is always welcome.

Cons: The mission design is incomprehensibly basic and the enemies just as dull, generic, and repetitive. Weak boss battles and completely unengaging endgame. Empty open world.

Score: 4/10

I have to strongly disagree with them on the combat and traversal being good.

With already low player numbers cratering, Rocksteady is now increasing the price of the microtransactions. The phrase blood from a stone comes to mind.

950 players at one point in the last 24 hours on steam. That's crazy low.

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Wow. Award your only few players by charging them more for cosmetics. Dying quicker than I think any of us anticipated.

I guess they know it's dying so they're trying to make as much money as possible before it does.

It's super dead.

Helldivers 2 by comparison (a similar type of game but cheaper and with no licensed characters) had a peak of 255K.
