The developers seem fine; on the game's Discord channel they've come across as very positive and appear eager to get folks playing the game.

Sure, some previews were not complimentary but there were plenty of positive ones, too. You can pretty much find whatever perspective you want to make the game seem good or bad and it feels like a bit of an internet pile-on is underway as with No Man's and F76.

I'm talking about the fact they've just had to pull the game from Early Access while they try to fix a huge bug with a full global launch imminent. That is going to be a rough and stressful day at work until it is sorted.

I think it's erring too much on the side of being balanced and measured by stating F76 and NMS suffered from an internet-pile on.

Let's not be rose-tinted here because the games eventually recovered - they had a shocking start, and were shoddy products. Especially in F76's case - it really was a case of consumers holding the development team to account.

It should never get personal or aggressive, but those products wouldn't have had their turnaround without vocal opposition from consumers.

I won't be getting into talk about the launch of F76 here in GR and I regret now referring to it in my previous post.

I just hope that Suicide Squad is gonna be a good game and surprise a few people.

I'm quite interested in this game [after a price drop], but still not completely sure what it is.

So this is at least in part a live service game? I'm not interested in that sort of thing, but just to be clear is there a single player story campaign that you can play just by buying the game (with no further investments required such as season passes, play-to-win loot box type things etc). Like the previous Arkham games? Or perhaps a better comparison would be like GTA 5 - which you could play solely as a single player story campaign (as I did) as well as having all the online stuff which didn't affect the single player campaign?

Or is this solely a competitive online thing, with the purchase of the base game serving as a sort of entry price? Sorry it's a little unclear to me.....

It was planned solely as a live service game but following the reaction to the game reveal and alpha, they've said they will introduce an offline single player mode through a patch. This won't be available at launch but will be added in 2024.

If you're going to wait for a price drop I imagine by the time you pick it up, it will have been added.

Are the boss fights really all just ‘hit the glowing bits’ or is there more to some of them?

Thank you.

Interesting choice to add a single player / offline through an online patch later, by which point it might have already flopped.

I'll keep half an eye for when the single player campaign drops. I'd imagine the after-thought single player campaign will still have
a 'looter-shooter live service' vibe about it (perhaps not dissimilar to Gotham Knights which felt like it wanted to be a live service game) rather than anything like the classic Arkham games experience I was hoping for but fair enough.

Very hard if not impossible question to answer at this stage, so no pressure - but did you get the impression that this game could eventually host a decent single player campaign?

We’re aware that a number of players are currently experiencing an issue whereby upon logging into the game for the first time, they have full story completion.

To resolve this issue, we will be performing maintenance on the game servers.

During this time the game will be unavailable. We expect this to take several hours and will update once we have more information.

Game is so bad it completes itself to prevent anyone else having to do it :slol:

£100 edition for early access for a game that’s either completed or unplayable while servers are offline to fix.

That’ll burn goodwill from their more ardent fans

This game originally looked like a poor man's Crackdown but it's starting to look like a poorer man's Agents of Mayhem.

Wish my image sig would work

If the single player turns out to be any good I'll probably give that a play if it turns up on gamepass.

The devs have just posted on the game's Discord channel that the fault is undergoing a fix and the game should soon be back online.

Rocksteady wrote:We have identified the problem that was affecting player profiles and are currently testing a fix.

We hope to implement it and have the game back online as soon as possible.

Thank you for your patience.

Hopefully it'll be resolved ahead of the Deluxe Edition early access period starting at midnight.

I love your optimism Jawa. You genuinely are one of the most upbeat and positive forum members, but you have someone in this thread who has played it and is saying it’s rubbish. Combined with all the live service nonsense and current lack of single player. To have such a big bug this close to launch that stops those who paid extra from playing is inexcusable.

It may turn around but it’s got an up hill battle ahead of it.

Thing is, I want this to do well otherwise Rocksteady might be the next studio that suffers layoffs/close down. Every project these days is make or break for these studios, we are losing too many talented studios due to the budgets/pressures these games are under.

People who have paid for the deluxe version should be entitled to refunds or some kind of goodwill gesture, especially if it’s not resolved before all copies are live across the world.

Hey, Daz. Don't get me wrong... I can absolutely see that there are some issues with the game and live service games haven't exactly covered themselves in glory these past few years. I get and respect the opinion of those folk who tried the demo test and didn't like it. That's fair enough. As with film and music, not everyone is gonna like every game; we all have differing tastes.

I do get a little irritated at the trend for piling onto games pre-launch when most of us know little about them, though. This game is online and - mainly - multiplayer; if you don't like those types of games than more power to you (as in everyone)... but why moan about them because they're online and multiplayer? There are plenty of other offline, single-player games to play. Just because there are certain types of game in existence doesn't mean it's taking away from others.

I won't be getting the game myself, though; at least not at launch. I'd love to but... no dough!

Agreed, Milner. But there is still time to work on the issue; in UK/Europe the early access period doesn't start until midnight. But, yes, purchasers in Australia/NZ should get some in-game extras or whatever to make up for any lost time :-).
