What about Metroid Prime? Retro isn't (or wasn't at time of release) first party either...

"Metroid Prime was a collaboration between Retro Studios and Nintendo EAD and R&D1. The overall design was a collaborative effort, while the art and engineering was done entirely at Retro, and the music was handled in Japan."

Retro also became Nintendo first-party during Metroid Prime's development, so it was first party on release

Oh, I didn't think they became first party until the days of MP2. My bad!

1)Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
2)Super Smash Bros Wii U
3)Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
4)Xenoblade Chronicles
5) Xenoblade Chronicles 2
6)Mario Odyssey
7)Mario Galaxy
8)Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
9)Mario Kart 8
10)Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Checked the link and Monolith Soft is thankfully first party so those should count. Haven't even finished Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but I know it deserves it's place there already.

Project Sora is first party, though Namco isn't which leaves Smash 4 in a funny situation, I'll assume for now it counts being a collection of all things Nintendo.

I think collaborations where Nintendo at least partly developed the game in house should count, so Smash 4 is in.

But wait... does that mean Brawl isn't?

I'm learning a lot from this at least

So Game Freak and HAL Lab developed stuff doesn't count but Rare developed stuff does?

Rare weren't first party to Nintendo, were they? Just a second-party with significant investment.

I guess Rare games count if they co-developed something with a Nintendo studio.

I blame Nintendo for secretly outsourcing many of their IPs that I assumed were just first party >:(

What Rare games have been voted for? Donkey Kong Country? My wiki-fu tells me Nintendo owned 49% or Rare, meaning they technically remained independent and all their games were second party. As Karl says if anything was co-developed with a Nintendo studio it would count.

Apologies if there is any confusion in this vote, I didn't think determining eligibility would be this contentious!

Metroid Prime is fine because Retro are first-party.

Cool list, Alvin - although remember that the order counts! Top choice gets ten points, second gets nine points etc.

That's fair. I would say HAL are surely first party then? But I don't know anything about the formal setup at Game Freak.

Google says Nintendo co-developed...

Developers: Monster Games, Nintendo Software Planning & Development

:!:

I'll edit it out though, no biggy.

OK, my list includes a few entries that may yet be disqualified, so I've simply made it longer. That way I can still contribute a ten, even if it is determined later that some of my entries* can't count. And these are my favourites, not those games that I would make the case for being the best Nintendo games.

1. Animal Crossing
2. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
3. The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
4. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door*
5. Super Mario Galaxy 2
6. Super Mario Galaxy
7. Pokemon Heart Gold*
8. Pokemon Platinum*
9. Mario Kart 64
10. Super Smash Bros Melee*
11. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
12. Wii Sports
13. Pikmin 2
14. Super Mario 64

I've made the assumption that Rare games do not count, even though others have included them in their lists. Were they to be permitted, Banjo Kazooie and Donkey Kong Country 2 would have made the top ten.
