Skipping feels impossible but if you devote a little bit of time and practice, it's not too bad. Getting to 50 is the hardest bit in my opinion as you have to adjust to the rhythm changes. Once you get to 50, if you find the right rhythm, it's not too difficult to get from there to 100.
Contrastingly, I had the opposite situation regards the skipping. I could get to 40-50 every time, it just took me a lot of goes to get that little bit of luck I needed to get to 100. Weird! I once lost it at 98 as well.
The volleyball one is probably the most boring moon in the game.
The skipping is easy. I keep seeing people saying it's too hard, I don't get it, you literally just press a button to a rhythm. There is a glitch that does it for you though if you're really struggling. The volleyball is a strawberry floating bitch though. It's painfully slow. 2 player mode is definitely an easier alternative.
If you have very good natural rhythm or play a lot of rhythm-action I can see the skipping rope being piss-easy. It's hard for most people to be that consistent though IMO. I certainly found it pretty hard.
The skipping one is easily the worst moon to get. It's hard enough even starting it let alone doing 100. I tried it on the bike which makes it a bit easier, but it's a pretty gooseberry fool addition along with the crap volleyball one.
For me Super Mario 64 is still quite far ahead of this - three quarters of the moons are just simple 'red coins'. I would say that I preferred Sunshine more than this. The next mario needs to have a proper hub world rather than this stupid area hopping which totally jars the experience.

I think you’re exaggerating a tad with the moons but there’s definitely too much filler and repetition in the moon count for me.
