Finished the story, and got the Mario 64 suit in the Mushroom kingdom. Now it's time to get a shit-ton more moons!

I was so excited to see that

Love the pre-'85 inverse colour overalls too

Winckle wrote:I would encourage every player to finish the story part ASAP and get to the end game because of how it changes the stages. It makes them a lot denser in terms of moons, and makes exploring them more enjoyable.

I wonder if I should've done this, I scrubbed the stages pretty exhaustively before finishing the story. Then again, the stages are such a joy to explore that I'm happy to go into them repeatedly!

In any case, I'm glad this continues the trend of substantial post game content we've seen in recent Marios

Is there something wrong with my joy cons or are the motion controls completely broken? I've taken the joy cons out and am clearly doing the exact motion it says in the action guide and it just isn't working.

Poor show from Nintendo not to add these moves to buttons, motion controls add absokutely nothing.

A lot (not quite all, but most) of the motion controls do map to buttons as well, it's just the inputs are undocumented. If you experiment with tapping/holding the button or pressing other buttons as well you can discover most of them.

What's the button for doing the cap spin attack? Or the cap homing attack?
Trying to use motion control for them with a Pro Controller is incredibly annoying.

In luncheon kingdom and I found one of the secret painting warps.

It lead to (BIG LATE GAME SPOILER) The mushroom kingdom! :o :o :o Holy strawberry floating sheeeiiiit. Found a secret moon that was actually a star and it played the Mario 64 tune

I've got to browsers kingdom now so I know there that place after at some point. And I'm pretty sure from how much it keeps being show that you'll end up on the moon at some point.
I may press on and do the story now as I'm up to about 370 moons.

That's fair. I tried everything to break out of that little island but I just couldn't. I'm guessing that was pretty thoroughly playtested...!

Tonight, I turned into a T-Rex :o  .

It was ace! But I didn’t realise that it was for a relatively short time and it disappeared. Do I have to exit that world and return to have another go?

No, it respawns after 30 seconds or so. If you want to fiddle it, when it starts beeping to let you know you're about to lose control, hope out and then recapture, it resets the timer

'Finished' this earlier, as in I did the story and saw the credits.

DON'T READ IF YOU HAVEN'T FINISHED THE STORY, CONTAINS ENDING AND POST GAME SPOILERS.:

WHAT the hell was that finale about?! :fp: Felt like I was playing sonic adventure :dread: Loved it when peach said,
"Enough!". And hooooly gooseberry fool there's still so much to do :datass: I bought the skeleton costume as I was maxed out on coins anyway, looking forward to getting the others.

When it said about needing more moons to go somewhere else I got all excited, and then it immediately said OMFG U GOT 250 MOONS TIME FOR THE DARK SIDE. Like who the hell is finishing this with less than 250?! :dread: I had 380 ffs.

Ah! That’s great, thanks Ad. I will have a go at that tomorrow night.

Reached credits yesterday. Got defeated in the final battle once, which was the first time I lost a boss battle during the game. Quite refreshing to be a little challenged.

That said, there have been a handful of Moons I've walked away from after a dozen attempts because of my lack of skill.

Postgame so far - slightly disappointed by the limited use of Yoshi. Is it really just 3 stars from collecting fruit and then one mini level?

Also, no idea where Peach is or what I'm supposed to do to track her down...

Is there a way to see what you need to do in order to earn the Toadette achievements?

Regarding Peach:

She just turns up somewhere in each kingdom now. When you find her, she gives you a power moon
