It's a thumbs up from me. I think it's catchy, and it's clearly very appropriate for New Donk City which appears to be a centrepiece in this game.

I've gone back and listened to it a couple times since my last post and I think I like it more each time. Some clever & amusing lyrical work.

She's totally in it with Bowser. Seething resentment for Peach. She wants her man back.

I'm calling it now. Donkey Kong will kidnap her for the world's end boss and you'll have to scale towers and bars ala donkey Kong arcade to rescue her, maybe with some 2d direct arcade bits in there too.

I'm hoping for something like that. Pretty confident of there being a decent DK cameo in there.

The music, the city is full of references to it(Look at the O in the back ground of that tweet above) including the name of the City, Pauline. Also in shots of the E3 booth you could see street signs and one of them was "Cranky Ave" or road or something. There's just too much pointing to it for him not to show up.

Though it makes me wonder, does that mean Mario used to live/work in New Donk City?

I haven't watched it yet, but here's the co-op demonstration from Treehouse earlier today.

Is it confirmed New Donk City is the hub world?

I don't think it is.. I think it's just one place he can travel (the "human" world), as everywhere else is bonkers, and I think the idea is they are all equally bonkers in context of one another. If Mario's world was normal, New Donk City would be bananas. (See I can work in DK references too.)

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

Not sure there is a hub world as such, looks like you've got some kind of ship that transports you between the worlds.

Bringing in DK as the big bad would be nice, pitch it as a kind of King Kong style animal escaped from its captors plot and have him go rampaging through the various worlds after kidnapping Peach. Dont have to make DK into a full villain to do this either, nice face turn at the end as he was just misunderstood and trying to get home.

Do you remember how Zelda timeline theorycrafting was a big deal on sites like ZeldaUniverse, before Nintendo came out with an official version?

I think the time is right for a Mario timeline.

I wonder where Hotel Mario would fit in on an official timeline.

I really can't shake the feeling that something looks a bit off with this. I really don't like the look or style of the City level.

Mind you, every truly great Mario game has been a complete mind strawberry float when you first see it, so I still have faith this will be great.
