The game could still be good :shifty:

Bayonetta, After Burner Climax, Infinite Space, Sands of Destruction, Resonance of Fate, Yakuza 3, Alpha Protocol, Sonic 4 and Dreamcast games mean this is still the year of SEGA

I'm thinking of picking up the Conduit, it was only £12.99 in Game :shifty:

Latest ONM gives it 72.

+ Strong Story
+ Loads of activities to do
+ Great visual style
- Tricky, even with the remote
- Balance Board tries patience

It's difficult, make no mistake, but outside of the single-player mode this is still good fun 72%

Not sure I'd take much notice at all of the review though, it starts off calling the original Super Monkey Ball on GC a gimmick.

Strong story = sold!

So difficult to play with the remote and the balance board? :fp:

The pluses aren't exactly what I buy Monkey Ball games for. The minuses seem to be the actually gameplay. 72%? Must be one hell of a plot.

Plot in Monkey Ball

The negatives sound like game breakers :fp: Why can't they just put one on PSN with six axis tilt control? Playing Flower makes me pine for Super Monkey Ball PSN

Not that Flower is anything like Monkey Ball but it's motion control done right.

To be honest, I wasn't much of a fan of the original Monkey Ball, so this version would have had to have received fantastic scores to get me interested.

So I guess I shall return to my GameCube copy of the original and enjoy that for the rest of days :(

It's the only brilliant game in the series. 2 was alright, but the stages had too many pinball elements in them, without as much skill. Jr was incredible for the GBA and I enjoyed it, but it hasn't stood the test of time. Touch and Roll was average, and the Wii version was pretty much SMB 2 with a jump button.

They still haven't clicked; the reason the first game was so brilliant was because the Gamecube pad had little dents around the stick, so you could 'lock' it in place, giving you more control. What other console has this? That's right, the Wii's nunchuck. Just go with that, Sega. It'll be fine if you do.

How hard can it be to make a ball-rolly-mazey game for the balance board?

The one in Wii Fit works fine.

Deluxe is terrible too. The PS2 and Xbox analog sticks werent up to the job and they turned the water effects into a flat blue rug.
Its Cube or bust for SMB and I prefer 2 as it has the definitive Monkey Target and Monkey Dogfight. Moan about the better levels in 1 all you want but it was the minigames that made it what it is.

Deluxe on the Xbox is the best version, all the levels and 480p on top.

The controls didn't work properly on the harder levels from SMB 1, though. Needs those little dents around the stick like the Cube/Nunchuck if you want to get the most out of the main game. For those interested in the party aspects, that's unlikely to matter.

Although I think America got Sonic Collection Deluxe and Monkey Ball Deluxe in one package for $20, which was about £12 at the time. That's quite possibly the greatest budget package ever.
