I agree, that’s why we should have got Rex and Pyra instead. :P

An anime swordsman who has only starred in a single recent game cannot possibly be considered iconic enough to feature in Super Smash Bros Ultimate.

The only problem I have with this announcement is that we might only get one unique music track from Persona 5 as part of the crossover.

Nintendo anime swordsman on the same machine as the game. Doesn’t need to be iconic. My bugbear about Joker’s lack of icon status is massively sat on by the fact that he’s never appeared (alright alright, in a non-spin-off game) on Nintendo machines.

If we do get Persona 5 on Switch announced before Joker arrives on Smash, you won’t hear another word from me about him except if he’s bad to play as.

(Also I’d hope for a dual character dynamic with Rex and Pyra that would make them feel less dull than the reams of Fire Emblem bods.)

Pretty disappointed as the character holds zero interest to me and I would prefer the third party reps to be reserved for more iconic characters.

I guess this means Persona 5 port is on the way, but then why not announce it at the same time if it is?

I have 43 playable characters thus far! Been powering through some 1 stock 2player matches and then restarting the software to get a new character about every 3 or 4 mins.

Finally got Ganondorf woo.

Also please add me dudes! SW-2446-6608-4888!

This is the best argument yet I’ve seen for his inclusion. I believe it’s still a spin-off, though.

The Persona Q series is a Nintendo exclusive line of RPGs though, even if it is a spin off from a franchise.

Does anyone know if the codec easter eggs on Shadow Moses Island from Brawl have made a return?

We should migrate GRcade to Flarum. :toot:

Joker could be seen as a rep for Shin Megami Tensei in general, in fairness, much like how Cloud is used as a rep for FF on account of VII probably being the most well known. Like FFs I-VI, SMT has a history on Nintendo consoles. So there being a representative for Atlus is more than warranted.

The only question is "who to use?"

You could go for the series mascot character, Jack Frost, but I can't see much coming from him. There's SMTV coming out on the Switch, so they could do something with that, but it's really not as popular as the Persona branch anyway. So when Ninty and Atlus get in touch for a rep they're obviously going to use the popular character.

Yes and no. They’ve been directly potted and not updated so they only work for Brawl characters and some are outdated now.

Palutena’s guidance has been updated however.

It says we get a 'number of tracks'.

They already used 'Life Will Change' and the new confidant music in the trailer.

They'd be crazy not to also use 'Last Surprise'. Maybe 'Rivers In The Desert', 'Wake Up, Get Up, Get Out There', 'Poem Of The Soul', and whatever theme works with the stage they pick.

So how is this looking as a single player experience (WoL, Spirit Board and Classic mode). Worth picking up for? It do you really need online to get what feels like the full package?
And I have read lots of things saying that the assist spirits basically nerf a lot of the WoL modifiers, making the pointless. This seems like an odd design decision. Is there any reason not to equip spirits that counter environmental hazards etc?

I mean, this is why they should have gone for a Moogle. Appeared in core FF games on Nintendo machines, not an anime swordsman, cute, fluffy, can still learn Ultima.

Alternatively: Moogle riding a Chocobo. Duck Hunt Duo becomes Final Fantasy Duo.

I weep for wasted opportunities.

Answer A: I’m one of those Smash superfans. It’s definitely in my top three franchises ever, and I look forward more than anything to seeing which new characters they’ve introduced each time around. That’s especially true for this entry, when there aren’t as many new characters to start off (if we ignore Echoes like sensible people) as there have been in the past. So when one I couldn’t give a monkey’s about takes one of the five precious places, especially one I don’t think ‘deserves’ to be in there... I react disproportionately. Not ‘Sakurai death threats’ disproportionately, I’m not a c*nt, but disproportionately nonetheless.

Answer B: I’m bored at work.

Answer C: I’m not getting Ultimate until Christmas, and am displaying my jealousy by dragging the main topic of conversation my way.

(seriously I’ll stop now)
