i wouldn't be shocked if a dragon quest character shows up as one of the dlc packs. think theres a good chance for banjo and the chorus kids. geno I think will probably be the first dlc one revealed.

I don't know why there's a good chance of Banjo? What am I missing?

Pretty sure MS said they're happy for Nintendo to approach them for Rare characters.

Outside of that, I'm not sure.

Stick in Conker and the Great Mighty Poo and that's all the RARE I want.

With the full game now being demoed at events in Spain and Japan today it's been cool to see how some of the characters have changed.
Here's a thread full of them:
https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comm ... 5uDey1yE8Y
Noteworthy changes.
Luigi got hard nerfed, he now has a tether grab and you can no longer recover with tornado by mashing.
These changes are likely because his grab game was far too strong in smash 4 and also because rising tornado was a very heavily abused move that could kill you at 0% off stage.
Duckhunt got loads of buffs. Captain Falcon apparently stronger in this game. Rosalina and Robin have had loads of changes. Bowser Jr got nerfed even though he is arguably bottom tier in smash 4.

Also Chrom has the worse recovery in the game, I'm willing to bet he will be terrible in regular matches but insanely good in stamina mode.

I like the look of Chrom's ground game which has me interested in picking him up. General info on characters I plan to play are pretty positive too.

I wasn't going to buy this on the basis I have the Wii U version and I couldn't see a significant update on it. I'm only a casual Smash fan, so all the tweaks to particular characters have little relevance for me. But having watched the direct, I've changed my mind and will pick up a copy.

I think for the casual Smash fan the single player looks like it has the potential to be significant enough to justify buying alone.

This is exactly where I am with it. Had practically zero interest in it until I saw the World Of Light trailer and that overworld map. Plus Classic mode looks like more fun this time around. I guess they need to make a robust single player game to appeal to non online owners. Plus it could act as a gateway (for online) for people who do pick it up for single player.

I'm going to end up with both by mid December aren't I?

Realised there's no Stage Builder Mode any more. Genuinely bummed over this but understand it's not in considering we have a kajilloin stages now.

There's been strong rumours for a new Square character post-launch, so I'm guessing either Geno or Sora. Sakurai knows the want for Geno, as he came 2nd in the Smash 4 polls, so I think he's a possibility for the DLC.

I also think Banjo could be fairly likely, especially as Nintendo and Microsoft have been playing nice with each other this past year, so it was probably too late to add him into the base game - if he was ever considered. I honestly wouldn't be surprised in a Minecraft stage either - the possibilities for a destructible stage would be pretty cool and unique.

People wanted Shadow, but he's an assist trophy (along with Knuckles), so that's definitely not happening. Surely either Tails, Amy or Eggman have to be more likely if we're ever to get another Sonic rep.

Yeah, I think Geno is happening. He was a Mii costume in 4 and hasn’t popped up anywhere in Ultimate that would discount him. Plus apparently Square pushed for Cloud to be DLC rather than base in 4, due to their preference on the financial agreement so it would make sense.

That's disappointing. I suppose it will mean there's always an incentive to return to Brawl, though.

Was the stage builder in the Wii U version? We established that break the targets mode was, so we're expecting it to be in this game - it's built on the same base game after all.

Yes it was. You could draw the stage on the gamepad. 'Break the targets' on Wii U was a crap Angry Birds clone. I'm glad it's gone. 64 and Melee had the best BtT but it makes sense they wouldn't make a level for every fighter. Don't see why they didn't do something akin to Brawl tho.

It makes sense that the new characters for the Fighters Pass be more hardcore fan offerings, because they are going to be the people buying in. Geno therefore makes a lot of sense.

Geno getting recognised as a actual important character after all these years would be absolutely epic.

The DLC last time was used for a couple of third party characters like Ryu, Cloud and Bayonetta - I'd imagine the same will happen this time round. Only we'll get Banjo, something else from Square and Leon S Kennedy.*

I'm not gonna lie, I'm getting a bit excited about this game. I need that Piranha, and I need my Pichu back again after all these years.

I don't even have a Switch yet.

*You heard it here first. The S stands for Super-awesome.

Given how wild a pick Piranha Plant is, I want to see all kinds of mad crazy guesses for new characters.

Black Bull for DLC. No I don't mean Black Shadow. I mean the actual car.

I want an F-Zero course where you actually have to race around a track in a car before the fight. The winner starts each life on -10% damage, second place with +10%, third with +20% and 4th with +100%. It could be magnificent.
