There is an NFL thread, but I know more people watch the superbowl than actually watch American Football throughout the season, so thought we could have a special topic for this!

So then....Pittsburgh Steelers v Arizona Cardinals.

Who's staying up to watch it, and who do you want to win?

I'll be cheering on the Cardinals as they are the underdogs like.

EDIT: Halftime show brought to you by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band.

Let's Go Cards!

I've really gotten into football this year (I'm more of a baseball man), but I still haven't really decided which team to throw my weight behind. Might as well go for the underdog.

I'm not sure if I'll watch the whole thing. I'm off work tomorrow, but I need to get up at 5.30am on Tuesday so I don't want to throw my sleeping patterns completely out of whack. I'm tempted to record the game, but it just isn't the same as watching live.

Yep, staying up to watch this. Booked the morning off work tomorrow so I can still get a decent amount of sleep in. Rooting for the Cardinals. Looking forward to seeing Bruce at the half time show too!

I'm watching at my university bar. Going to be staying open 'til 3am, which is nice.
I like the Steelers, but the Cardinals are the underdogs, so I'm torn as to who to support. Think I'll plump for the Steelers though.

Some of you might remember that I try to get into this every year yet fail.

This year will be no different. I'll try and watch as much as I can stand. Hopefully it won't be too stop-start-stop-start.

Steelers, 'cos I'm in sheffield innit.

Lets be honest though, it's like a rugby for girls.

Sky have probably got that sewn up.

It's a shame. I have BBC HD but no Sky HD.

Ill be supporting the Cardinals. I like and respect te Steelers but i love how explosive the Cardinals offense can be when they are on form.

I would love the Edge to get a ring after all the work he put in for the Colts without winning one. If any player deserves one it has to be him.

EDIT: Regarding the HD issue, accroding to one of the blogs on the BBC website it was too expensive to put together.

I forgot this was on and cancelled by Sky Sports subscription on Wednesday night :fp: I'll stay up and watch it in SD blandovision though.

To be fair though BBC's amount of HD output is pretty shocking, it's like a schedule from the fifties.

Meh. They get most of the important stuff up there in HD (Olympics, Euro 2008, nature docs).

But I've never subscribed to Sky. I guess they're doing HD content right.

Some nice up to date information from the BBC:

Jake Humphrey presents coverage of one of the world's biggest sporting spectacles, Super Bowl XLIII, which takes place in the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida.

The event, which attracts a massive audience in more than 200 countries across the globe, is always an absorbing mix of sporting drama and razzmatazz, with rock legend Bruce Springsteen headlining the half-time entertainment. The 2008 game was a thrilling contest, with the New York Giants triumphing over the New England Patriots thanks to a last-minute touchdown. It was a hard pill to swallow for the Patriots, who had been bidding to become the first NFL team to win all 19 games in a season. There is no chance of New England making amends for that disappointment this season, having failed to reach the play-offs, but the Giants are still on course to defend their title.

Quick question.

BBC coverage or Sky coverage?

BBC purely for Mike Carlson.

Also, they have the proper feed this season so Madden will be commentating.

No ad breaks on the Beeb.

We don't get the big huge Superbowl ads over here, do we?

Every year at Uni I used to watch this with my flatmates and we'd all be bored out of our minds. However, it became a tradition and I am not one to break with it. However, I bloody hate the Superbowl which is just one big advertising slot.
