Why did he even bother to go ahead with the vote in the first place?

Excellent news! :toot:

He'd better not get off with everything he's done though. Has he given a reason yet?

Probably thought he was clean. It was only in the last few hours that the investigation revealed the $10m bribe with South Africa.

Unless it turns out he just resigned because he works on a week long delay and the arrests only just caught up with him I don't think you can claim you predicted this DML

Would make sense. Wonder will he get done over by the police in the coming weeks?

Utter Scenes. He's either ashamed or he's been implicated in the investigation.

I said the status quo had to change - I said people would be suprised, and there you have it. Everyone else was saying quite the opposite and saying nothing would change yada yada yada. I'm claiming it all the way baby! :toot:

Possibly Qatar but Russia is too soon that will surely go ahead. I personally think Qatar will still happen too.

Once that letter showed Jerome Valcke knew about the £10m payment, it was getting awfully close to Blatter's front door. You can apparently try and throw a few vice-presidents under the bus, but your number 2 is not quite so easily swept away. It must only be a matter of time before Blatter is implicated directly. The sums of money involved are just too big for it not to go all the way to the top.

I was not expecting this development though! :toot: So soon after the election is just farcical beyond words.

That's my thinking. Someone must have told him he's about to be indicted.

I must admit I would have expected him to hold onto the bitter death. As soon as FI warrants start being handed out, you aren't just going to be able to brush that under the carpet, thats some serious gooseberry fool! It was either something like this happening (the invesitgations being furthered - although wow did it further quickly!) or the sheer uproar and retaliation to the increasingly teflon FIFA reshaping the sport.

This is Blatter we're taking about, the man has no shame. He's definitely going to lock himself in his office and take the coward's way out ala the warden in the Shawshank Redemption.

IIRC according to Private Eye the Garcia Report was a whitewash. So much so that Garcia himself publicly claimed that FIFA had meddled with it, in case the report got out and Garcia's reputation was destroyed.
