It's good he's gone but I wonder who's going to replace him? The US investigation may help them weed out more Blatter types and oust them from Fifa so we don't just end up with someone similar or one of his cronies taking over but i'd imagine Fifa needs a proper overhaul before we see real change at the organisation. Apparently it'll be another 4 months before he's actually gone. No doubt he's caught wind of something to do with the investigation that's made him jump.

I suspect you're right on this one. I reckon the FBI are about to nail him to the wall.

It seems he will stay as President until a new one is elected, which could be as much as 4 months away.

Maybe Blatter will also announce he is moving to a country with no extradition laws

Probably longer:

NO ELECTION UNTIL AT LEAST DECEMBER
Domenico Scala, the chairman of FIFA's audit and compliance committee, says that, due to existing FIFA rules on the notice periods required for elections and for candidates to present themselves, the election of a new president may not take place until at least December.

Scala said: "While the timing will ultimately be up to the executive committee, the timing of election is likely to be between December and March."

If that letter wasn't the smoking gun, then something else on the trail from it will be. There's no other reason for Blatter to resign - remember his massive arrogance after winning the election last week. Quite the u-turn, so expect him to be holidaying in a country with no extradition treaty very soon.

Good riddance to the old crook. I hope he's arrested and ends up in prison for a long time for ruining the beautiful game. I hope the FBI et al get to the bottom of just how mired in filth he was.

This is Blatter we're taking about, the man has no shame. He's definitely going to lock himself in his office and take the coward's way out ala the warden in the Shawshank Redemption.

Ashamed :slol:

Greg Dyke just referred to FIFA's 'suspect leadership'. Literally, Mr Dyke!

Christ can you imagine if the WC gets taken off Russia.

Qatar may be a given.

Dyke was quick to turn attention to the hosts of those tournaments.

"We can go back to looking at those two World Cups," he said. "If I were Qatar right now I wouldn’t be feeling very comfortable."

Not sure how they will get a re-vote on Qatar unless Platini is booted too, unless they directly find bribes attached to Qatar

Well they can't do anything on both word cups unless the evidence of corruption is found.

David Gill or Figo would be my choice to replace him. But I bet the next candidate will the one who can be bought, so both of those won't stand a chance.

Any chance of 2022 going to a revote?

Platini has to be a non-starter as a candidate. He's totally mired in the previous regime.
