N64 was nowhere near as popular as the NES/SNES and, like Sega, they can't be bothered to properly emulate games from their 3D consoles.
There’s a huge amount of nostalgia for the N64. I’d be shocked if it’s not announced before mid July.

Isn't Microsoft stipulating that going forward, to have cross play on Minecraft requires platforms to allow Xbox Achievements? Come on there's no chance that Sony is going to do that.
EDIT: the add is called Minecraft Cross-Play Trailer - Sony invented the term and now their words come back to haunt them!
Not a problem. If MS are so up for the crossplay as they say, they will probably agree to change to Trophies just to show they mean business.

With Sony catching flak from the Fortnite debacle, I did expect that Microsoft would have a jab or two at Sony's expense. Didn't expect Nintendo to get in on the fun, though.

Wonder if we’ll finally see Goldeneye 64 on the Xbox/Switch, Nintendo having blocked it a number of years ago (Activison and Microsoft were both up for it).

It'll be interesting to see where this goes. I think it'll probably stop at Fortnite & Minecraft, but I could kind of imagine Nintendo cultivating a kind of "enemy of my enemy" friendship with Microsoft for the remainder of this gen, just to really twist the knife into Sony.
It won't happen but it would be an amazing troll if Nintendo threw them a B-tier first-party game (something like ARMS?) for Xbox crossplay, in return for some traditionally Xbox-y game on Switch crossplay. Imagine the Sony memes.

"Enemy of my enemy" is exactly what I was thinking when I saw this yesterday. I think this "partnership" is more in MS's benefit as there is likely to be more platform comparisons for those games that are cross platform with XB1 always coming out best and I don't think MS see Nintendo as a threat for their target audience.

Phil Spencer was saying in an interview at E3 that he was off to dinner that night with Reggie and Nintendo execs because MS are a third party software dev (cos of minecraft) that has a relationship with Nintendo. Phil and MS in general have been complimentary to Sony and Nintendo but when it comes to the switch, they champion it somewhat and I don't think they see the switch as direct competition to the X1. If Nintendo feel the same way the other way around we could see some cross play on further titles.

You're right, for me Switch is more of a handheld than a home console (half the time I use it is when I'm travelling for work and I stay in a hotel) and, for a lot of people, it's there to compliment either a PS4 or Xbox One, not replace them.

This is amazing. The tweets back and forth with Nintendo and Xbox regarding playing this or Fortnite together they seem to be working quite closely and trolling Sony hard.
Whilst the PS4 has easily won this generation, I think Microsoft know it and are gearing up to come out fighting next time. With all their work on backwards compatibility which is sure to carry through to the next machine alongside gamepass and I'm guessing a raft of new exclusive titles from their recent studio acquisitions and now potentially a close relationship with Ninty for stuff like cross play I think the pressures now on Sony more than it has been in a very long time.
I feel this is going to be a great thing for us gamers regardless of what platform we prefer as it should force MS and Sony to both up their game, I think next gen could be something really special..roll on 2020.

Spot-on, Hail. It's great that we have three big players in the market as this drives up the options and quality for consumers. A competitive gaming market is good for us!
