That's beautiful, but wish it was wide enough to see their bums! Here's a quick test shot out the window in Berlin with a Helios lens from the USSR.

There have been some African wildlife pictures by Laurent Baheux doing the rounds: one was a stark B&W shot of a lion's head.

Anyway, it strongly reminded me of one I'd taken of the dog (Ridgebacks are also known as Lion Hounds, for thier appearance as well as their use as big game hunters), so I stuck them side-by-side. Got a 'like' from the original photographer for my trouble. :)

Those are pretty good. A couple of them look a bit overexposed, but overall they look good. The skills you learned doing (amazing) illustration seem to have transferred over to photography without a hitch.

Did the best I could with an amateur skill set, a beginner lens and no tripods etc.

I've just stepped up from a rather creatively limiting Nikon coolpix l330 to a D5300. What a bit of kit it is too. I used to have a fully manual film SLR when I was a kid, so I understand the fundamentals but this has so much more.

Quick question, at present I don't have the time to do much in depth photo editing so I don't see the point in saving my pics in Raw but is it worth while saving as large if I'm not going to be printing them?

IMO, you might as well save as large as you can - SD card space is cheap and easy to get, and you never know when you might want to go back and print something.

Also, you might take an absolute ripper one day and kick yourself if you haven't got it at the highest possible res.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. My 32gb Sd card has space for over 3000 jpegs at fine and medium size.

I suppose since I've got 24MP I might as well use them :)

Yeah, exactly. And if that card fills, it's a tenner for another one.

Thinking of changing camera, possibly even my entire platform but need help!

Currently have a nice wee Canon 700d but I am very tempted by:

Fuji X-T2, Fuji X-Pro2, Sony A7rii, Sony A6500.

quite like the idea of a small form csc / mirrorless camera but I am really unsure on what to go for or if I should 'upgrade' onto a full frame DLSR or more modern APC.

Help me GRcade, you are my only hope.
