It's coming to PS4 and Switch too, according to a deleted tweet from an official BN twitter account.

If it comes to PS4 it’s an easy purchase decision for me ;)

I've been keen to replay Vesperia add my favourite in the series, Symphonia, has only every been ported at a disappointing 30FPS. The additional content from the Japan only PS3 release gives me more of a reason to do so. Hopefully the Switch version is 60FPS, or at least the PC version is.

Between this, Xenoblade 2 and Octopath, it's a great time for JRPGs.

I'm excited! :toot:

Hey, Tales-Emperor-san and fellow Tales enthusiasts. I am gong to be taking my first steps into the World of Tales!

I was watching a few vids of the new Vesperia Definitive Edition and I started looking at Zestiria and Berseria. They seemed pretty cool and I liked the enthusiasm for the series shown by a few GRcadians. Then I noticed that the games are in the current PS Store sale; Zestiria at £6 and Berseria at £12. I jumped aboard on the basis that I'm cutting back on game expenditure next year... so had better grab these quick! :fp: .

I probably won't get to play until tomorrow but "I'm excited!".

Make sure you play Zestiria first.
Berseria is a prequel to it but came out after, and has a few nods to Zestiria in it that will make you go "Ohhhh" as it fills in the backstory.

Pretty sure Zesteria is meant to be pretty darn shite. Though I liked what I played of Berseria.

I never did play much of Zesteria but enjoyed Berseria before I was sidetracked but something (as usual). Start with Zesteria as it was released first - keep us updated with your progress and we might be able to suggest if you should just move to Berseria.

Symphonia is still my absolute favourite though Vesperia was a very close second until Graces which really stood out to me thanks to its battle system and music. It's a shame that the best version of Symphonia is still the GameCube I've given that it has had so many rereleases. In any case, try to get a copy of Vesperia because it looks like the remaster will be the definitive version. I'd be getting it myself but I want to finish Xenoblade 2 and Let's Go, Pikachu sometime in the next year.

The Graces battle system was the worst of the series until you got towards the end of the game and your meter would start at 8-10.

My biggest problem with pretty much every Tales game though is the constant "will they won't they" romances that NEVER get resolved.

Yeah, will do, Laga', dude. I've done my research and plan on initially tackling Zestiria. It looks good and [Pedz interjects!]:

... :o . I've viewed vids and checked out Metacritic reviews (72%), Pedz! Probs fair to say that it's not everyone's favourite Tales game, but there was enough there to draw me in :-) .

Thanks, Dragon! I like the idea of an RPG with real-time battling, and the characters seem to be neat, too.

If I enjoy these two then I'll look out for Vesperia, dude. It seems that many folk regard Vesperia as being their favourite Tales game. I'm planning on cutting back on "new games" next year but, if it's good enough, it may force its way into being one of my choices!

Whilst I was undertaking research on Tales games, I stumbled across a few vids by this guy, ZaffreRevolution, and I like his enthusiasm for the series:

Symphonia will always have a special place in my heart, played it absolutely to death over the years after it came out. It's probably still my most played game. That said, I am hyped to play Vesperia again, as nostalgia goggles off, I do think it is technically a more enjoyable game. Hopefully it'll look good in portable on Switch because that's how I'd love to play it.

I hope they bring the Symphonia collection out for the current gen systems after this release. Looking forward to picking up Vesperia at some point
