Up to series 9 now! A very strong cast on this season as far as names go. Ed Gamble genuinely appears to be the first contestant who truely gets the program and what it takes to win. Meanwhile Jo Brand is clearly just there for the fee/lols.

He was almost as happy as I was when (spoiler for one of the tasks) Vorderman didn't win the maths task.

Yeah it was ok. I don't think the cast were strong enough to sustain a full season (unlike last year). Tasks were good though.

I've been a big fan since her Slow Club days. Saw them play in 2010, and saw Self Esteem in 2018. :datass:

I really like Amelia's Chicken Shop stuff, so I'm excited to see her on it too. Greg James meanwhile is the only person to have blocked me on Twitter (must have been 10-15 years ago!) and is still a prick!

oh gooseberry fool i had no idea she was in slow club - i did give self esteem a listen but didnt work for me so thats nice shes in a band i liked already

Series 10! I am now up to Channel 4, which comes with... minimal covid crowds and the weakest lineup yet. :shifty:

I was really surprised that Alex didn’t pick her up on something: she correctly identified that the spots were the same on each side, but then gave an odd number as her answer.

Turns out to be a great lineup. Katherine is delightful, Vegas is funny, Mawaan tears it up, and Daisy tries to say “phenomenon” and loses her gooseberry fool at Herring.

The return of the live audience makes so much difference!

Have just finished catching up with all the series I never saw all of during COVID.

Series 10 - Probably my least favourite season all in. Mawan was the standout I think. The established comics really disappointed I thought
Series 11 - The men were excellent in this series and carried it a bit I think, Mile, Lee Mack both great. The Aussie woman and the children's TV presenter just kinda showed up and did things in a fairly routine way.
Series 12 - Alan Davies and Victoria Core both pretty disappointing but the other three were quality.
Series 13 - A fun series, Bridget and Sophie probably the standouts but they were all good.
Series 14 - Pretty disappointing performances all round Greg and Alex had to drag the humour out of them in most cases.

When you watch a lot of these in quick succession the tropes become very apparent. There seems to be few contestant archetypes and you kind of identifying who the good ones and bad ones are. Although there's undoubtedly some diminishing returns the format is still magic.

Really surprised you put s14 bottom, I thought it was pretty good bunch. 6, 8, 10 and 11 were the weakest for me I think.
