That should be relatively (pun intended) easy, given that civil registration started in 1837. Deaths registered soon after that could easily be for people born before 1789 (less likely if Scottish due to registration not starting till 1855). It's when you start going past that and have to go through Parish registers it starts getting tricky. Good luck!

Best one I found was a direct ancestor who was born around 1800. In 1830 he was transported to Australia for stealing (leaving his wife and kids behind) and died there in the 1880s in a tiny little town. Amusingly he appears to have been the only person to have ever died in custody in that town, obviously shipping him to Oz didn't stop his criminal ways!

Oh and his name was John Candy which also amuses me.

Cora's is more tricky, though because of all the incest.

Before he died - did he help a load of aboriginals compete in a sport in which they aren't normally proficient?

How did you find out he's been transported? Most of my ancestors appear to have been dead by the time their kids got married, although I know that a lot of transported people were marked as deceased to avoid the shame of telling people they'd been papped off to convict country.

 @ Denster

I had a cheap 3 month subscription to Ancestry and they have lots of old court records. From there I double checked with some Australian transportation websites and found out the boat he was on and where he was shipped to. Also on Ancestry you can view other people trees and cross reference so I found where and when he died.

The died in custody information came from a Facebook history group that came up when I was searching for him.

It amuses me no end, not just because it is interesting to have an ancestor like that, but also because he came from the posher side of the family.

When I saw the notification was a reply from you - I was hoping it was in response to the incest post tbh.

Oh you horrible bastard

Wouldn't that make it easier to find everyone? Less documents to retrieve when your mum's your aunt and grandmother as well. :dread:

Probably is easier when your uncle is also your brother and grandfather. Your family tree is probably just a stump.

i honestly feel like the marketing team are taking the piss, but its quite clever:
the idiots will think 'oh wow i need to check out this amazing piss-water!'
the not-idiots will go 'hey did you see that advert for bud light? are they having a laugh'
result: more people know about bud light!

ITV's Big Heads is brilliant. It's like the Spitting Image puppets crossed with It's a Knockout.

I think I might have just eaten a fatal amount of cheese, had most of a large wedge of Rioja and red onion cheddar and half a large wedge of pickled onion cheddar, both were exceptionally tasty and moreish.

I also had cheese on toast for lunch.

Turns out it's not acceptable to use Aliens quotes when you find out one of your kids has nits.

"Get away from her, you bitch?" Yeah, I wouldn't stand for that either if I was your wife.

Mrs. rex Kramer:- "STOP YOUR GRINNIN' AND DROP YOUR LINEN!
I've found 'em"

Rex Kramer:- "Look man! I only need to know one thing – where they are..."

Or...

Rex Kramer:- Is this going to be a standup fight, sir, or another bughunt?
Mrs. rex Kramer:- All we know is that there is still is no contact with the colony, and that a Nit may be involved.
Rex Kramer Jnr:- Excuse me Mum, a what?
    Mrs Rex Kramer:- A Nit.
Rex Kramer (to Rex Kramer Jnr):- It’s a bughunt.
