So, received an email at work today. HMRC have released a memo that's states they will refund tax for NHS workers that have done specific training whilst employed by the NHS. In my case I was seconded to do my nurse training in 2004 for 3 years. All the tax and NI that I paid in that time is now claimable as a refund. As anything else of this nature it is a process that can take many months but the figures being quoted make ti very worthwhile.
As much as 11,000 in refunded tax/NI contributions.

Oh my!

I heard a Harry Enfield interview recently where he was talking about his Loadsamoney character and the fame it brought him in the 80s.

He based the character on a few people he knew and those he observed. Basically working class types who made lots of money and then would tell everyone about it, they would make sure everyone knew how much they had and how much they paid for things. He even knew people that would go to the opera, not because they liked it, but because it was expensive and they wanted people to know they were going to expensive cultural events. They all loved Thatcher as well as they saw her as the reason they were making so much cash.

What was very interesting though was that he almost regrets the character as he thinks it had the opposite effect, rather than laughing at the vulgar man shouting about money, people started to want to be him and get that sort of lifestyle for themselves. Satire can backfire and Enfield thinks Loadsamoney did just that.

Here is a medical mystery for you all.

For the past couple of months Ive had non stop headaches every single day, starts bad in the morning, gets worse and worse. Ive noticed that my teeth and jaws hurt too, and the pain radiates up the side of my face into my temples and sort of grows from there as the day goes on. I thought I was grinding my teeth or clenching my jaw in my sleep so Ive been trying to sleep better.

A few weeks ago I wrote about a bout of sleep paralysis, which was whatever. Worth noting that when I was in that episode my jaw was in a quite painful spasm, but there was a lot of weird stuff going on so I just forgot about it.

My gf came in last night while I was asleep (and Ive had a run of really bad nights in general as far as sleep goes anyway) and she told me this morning that my jaw was spasming. Twitching like I was having a seizure or something, and it carried on basically all night.

Sure as gooseberry fool my head is banging this morning and my jaws are extremely achy. I cant find anything online about what might cause this.

So - doctors of GR - what is wrong with me?
