It was a promotional sauce for the Disney film Mulan in the 90s and the creator of Rick & Morty loved it. He made it part of a joke in an episode and the fans became absurdly obsessive about it.

I watched every single episode of Rick and Morty to try and see why everyone is going so crazy over it and I seriously just don't get it.

The one good thing it's produced at least is the Copypasta...

To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Rick and Morty. The humor is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Rick's nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation - his personal philosophy draws heavily fromNarodnaya Volya literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Rick and Morty truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in Rick's existencial catchphrase "Wubba Lubba Dub Dub," which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Dan Harmon's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. And yes by the way, I DO have a Rick and Morty tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.

And Rick and Morty is amazing. Admittedly the latest season not quite so much.

The only thing I don't like about Rick and Morty is how little credit Futurama gets for being it's precursor. People rant and rave about how creative and wild the stories in Rick and Morty are, often specifically mentioning where they ruin the entire universe before moving to a different one. Futurama did a similar story except they literally destroyed everything that exists twice before 'resolving' their situation.

I realise I'm kind of setting up a straw man argument here and can't provide a single example of the above being the case, but I feel a lot of Rick and Morty's audience is quite young and have no knowledge of it's lineage.

Nah Rick and Morty sits pretty easily in the A-tier of animated to shows at the moment. Futurama is god-tier, especially the first four seasons. I haven't watched Jurassic Bark since I got a dog, but I'm now wondering if I could still handle it.

There's a Dove advert doing the rounds causing controversy at the moment that I and others saw a while ago (in storyboard format via market research). Didn't think anything of it. Don't think I even knew who it was for at the time. It had some blurb attached that was basically 'whoever the woman, whatever the skin type, suitable for all' and the woman would change as she changed garment (i.e. illustrating the diversity of women who use the product). I mean with a tag line I thought it was a pretty self explanatory message. Seems to have got lost in translation somewhere.

Every ad agency (in London at least) is made up of nothing but trendy out-of-touch hipster tossers who wear scarves indoors though so it's mildly amusing.

There was a storyboard I saw, I think it was the arse-end of 2016, that had someobody from Liverpool FC getting into a shitty car and getting crushed by a dinosaur. Klopp was then shown standing there with a bottle of Nivea Men Stress Protect. I was interested in how they planned on animating the dinosaur and crushing the car. I mean it was a fully blown T-Rex in the drawings.
