Not too fancy because we didn't bring dressy up clothes, and not too fussy either because Anung has simple tastes. Pretty open to price ranges, need to be late serving, and preferably somewhere around Somerset house/Regent Street.

I really don't wanna spend my anniversary in TGIs.

Flat Iron for decent simple, £10 flat iron steaks that you cut up with a tiny hipster cleaver. There's one near Regents Street and one somewhere else.

You over there now?

I landed in Atlanta a few hours ago, my god security was a nightmare. Took over an hour and i was near the front. Seems quite a plain city from my uber journey, not gonna get the chance to see any sights anyway though.

Yeah but heading home tomorrow.

New York is great, but I'd advise anyone against coming at Christmas. Just way too busy. And strawberry float me the queues/waits for everything. Even if you have one of the attraction passes you just queue and queue and queue.

The VR Ghostbusters experience at Madame Tussauds here is strawberry floating amazing though. Way better than the Sherlock Holmes thing the London one has.

I entered through Atlanta when I did my big tour of the US. I'd booked a return even though I wasn't using going to use the actual second flight and had forgotten the date it was booked for. When this became obvious the border guy kept me back and pestered me with inane questions* for 20 minutes.

*(Where are you staying? How much is it a night? How many people to do know there? etc etc)

YouGov will have paid out £140 to me this year. I tried to work it out, and I came to the ROUGH conclusion it equals out about minimum wage per time spent (i.e. about 2 days work spread out across the entire year).

The government spinning polls to their favour yet again. Only 50% voted "No", that's hardly a majority.

Not bad, I've only had £100 out of them so far but its a nice little extra every now and then.

It's faulty analysis- Die Hard is about Xmas. Specifically it's about a man trying to spend Xmas with his family and running into obstacles along the way.

How many movies that people class as Christmas movies are actually about Christmas? Most of them are just movies set around Christmas time, at least Die Hard has a “ho-ho-ho” in it.

I've found it works out at £50 every 6 months based on conventional surveys, topped up by the sporadic bonus stuff that tends to give out a set amount of money (having to go to Royal Mail HQ in London was one, monitoring your phone usage, watching a TV programme Live and moving a Love/Hate meter). I never go in for the points for cash competitions.

Yeah, for example, Home Alone is about a kid left behind by his family while they go on holiday, that is set at Christmas.

I don't see how that's any different to Die Hard.

Yeah that sounds about right for what I've seen. Yeah I dont do the points for prize stuff either it seems like a great way to get nothing for your efforts.

From a previous discussion on this whole "Die Hard isn't a Christmas movie" BULLSHIT:

Preezy wrote:
Hexx wrote:Don't be silly. Die Hard isn't a Christmas Movie, just a movie set at Christmas.

It's the classic Christmas tale of unwanted guests (the terrorists), family tensions (John and Holly), a Christmas grinch (Hans), a Christmas fairy (Powell), the redemption of a fallen man (John), consumerism (that Asian terrorist risking his tactical awareness to grab a chocolate bar, Ellis bragging about Rolex).

It's got it all
