The beauty of TCRT is the fact it's usually pot luck: you might like what you get, you might not, but it's almost always entertaining to the casual bystander. Just not when there'a a game on.
Hmm. I get what you're saying, but I also think it's not the kind of discussion for which a separate thread would be appropriate - because 'official' or 'sanctioned' spectator / death posting threads tend to impact the game - and it would be a shame if there were nowhere on the board for people to post the odd smiley or GIF relating to an ongoing game. It's a shame that we can't have a general chat thread that actually welcomes all general chat, but if there's a genuine consensus for using TCRT for a specific, prescribed form of 'general' chat then in principle that should be respected.
Since both sides have understandable points, and it's a yes/no question (no room for compromise) there isn't a way to resolve this amicably. My call is that for at least the rest of the current ongoing game TCRT should be used, then we can look at it again next time (particularly if someone says something earlier -- the current game is winding down now anyway).
