Talking of massive expenditure, my girlfriend decided that now is the time we have to replace our sofa and it has to happen immediately. Ok, thats fine, I hate our current sofa and its strawberry floated, needs replacing.

She went looking yesterday and came home afterwards and measured the space to find out she couldnt fit the one she wants in the room. Took some convincing to tell her it couldnt sit in the middle of the room so she asked me to go to the shop with her and check out the other chairs. We checked everything, I told her which ones I liked and which ones wouldnt fit. She has chosen one of my least favourites that wont fit because its the one for her.

I have just given up and told her to get whichever one she wants, so I fully expect to be home tonight to a sofa in a colour that doesnt match anything else in the house and wont fit in the room.

Best of all it not matching or fitting will be all your fault.

My E10s were £20, best earphones I've ever owned. And I've owned at least 3 pairs so I'm kind of an expert with this sort of thing.

I bought a new black leather sofa from DFS last year. It hasn't collapsed yet. It was the one I hadn't planned on buying, and was probably one of the cheapest in the store (it was around £600 I think, I've already forgotten), but it was the most comfortable to sit on by a country mile. Basically all the research I'd done online went straight out the window. It wasn't worth a gooseberry fool.

I hate furniture shopping though. I just feel out of my element, I quickly lose interest, everything feels so expensive, you're constantly harangued and hovered on by the coffee-salesmen staff...

there's no way you can get quality drivers for £20, sorry.
£70-£120 seems to be the sweet spot for in-ears.

I noticed they came out back in 2012. Is there nothing more recent? If you're spending that much I'd want to know I was at the cutting edge.

I liked a nice black leather one that was a perfect size and very comfortable. She decided this simply wouldnt do as she didnt want a black one. She tried a cream one which was very comfortable but too big and looked shite, she agreed it looked shite but she wanted it as it was comfortable???

Last I heard a grey chesterfield was front runner but its too big and I am fairly confident it will be damaged squeezing it in.

E10's are fantastic. Try them and see. For the price the performance is insane.

I like my nice headphones but for big money Id only ever get over ears.

I have a pair of the IE 8's. Ive had them since 2009 (bought them with my divorce payout) and they have been outstanding. They were £250. You can certainly tell the difference between them and 20-100 ones.

In ear headphones are among the most uncomfortable things in the world.
They also seem to have the worst problems for noise leaking, every time I can hear someone's music it's from in-ear headphones.

Over ear headphones are superior in every way.

I struggled with my sofa getting through the front door. strawberry float knows how they do it for anything bigger, because it's a standard sized door. Thankfully the armrests at DFS unscrew on the majority of their stuff. I stuck with black because I know as hard as I try, a light colour is going to show up the dirt. I'm not going to bollock myself, but I'm not fannying about trying to not touch this, not sit on it this way, trying to clean it every 30 seconds because I've smudged it with newspaper ink...

It's like when you see chavs on tv with those strawberry floating L shaped leather sofas they all insist on getting, way too big for the room, have to bend it at the corner to fit it in plus they block a strawberry floating whole door off  Oh and they all huddle at one end because the L bit is really uncomfortable and impractical.

The strawberry float is it with chavs and those things?

this post is so wrong: over-ear is almost always going to have worse leaking than in-ear, especially from open-backed.
if you can hear someone's in-ear they're either actually buds (and gooseberry fool ones at that) or the person is almost deaf

I was going to buy one of these! It was made of material rather than leather, but still. I changed my mind when I actually saw and then sat on one though. They're MASSIVE! The photos online don't do them justice, it would have engulfed the whole room. It's like they're designed for big American/open plan style living rooms, where the sofa sits in the middle and you can walk around it. You know, like the commercials but where about 12 people in the UK actually live in.

And then I sat on it. The corner section is incredibly uncomfortable, and the bit sticking out at the end is pointless because you can't lean back on it.

Upon sitting on them, I was totally put off I have to admit.

Definitely.

You can get custom moulded high end gooseberry fool for that money.
