Detectorists was a laid-back, feel-good comedy drama about some folk who use metal detectors. It ran for three series and is well worth a look!

It's a classic that one day should be talked about in the same breath as Fawlty Towers or The Office. The first 2 series were on Netflix but I'm not sure if they still are.

Edit: Yes they are.

2nd edit: One of my tweets today got a like from Toni and a reply from Hugh. My life is complete.

The Office should never be mentioned in the same breath as Fawlty Towers unless it's to comment that The Office isn't even a fraction as good but desperately wishes it was.

It sounds utterly awful when somebody tries to describe it, but it’s honestly one of the warmest and most lovely comedies around. There’s swearing but it’s a very gentle show.

Yeah this, the office is just plain not good.

Talking of comedy, I don't know how people watch Fawlty Towers, Friends, The Simpsons and Only Fools and Horses on Channel 4 and GOLD; the editing drives me mad. Yes some of the language has dated, but as a product of their time just leave them alone or air them at a relevant time.

I've heard Cartoon Network even edits Johnny Bravo which last time I looked goes out late night anyway.

Comparing the British and American office is pointless. They are completely different shows with completely different humour. Both are classics though.

Maybe it's my hate of Ricky Gervais and the fact I hadn't worked in an office but I tried watching the English office when it first come out and I didn't find it at all funny.

I never bothered even trying to watch the American office for that reason.
