I know, to ask you if you were having a stroke when you've only just started your new job.

I mean, you'd at least have to get out of your probation before trying that!

Sounds like he's already had a stroke or two if he's on probation.

Has to be.

Things that don't stack up for me:

Why aim to try to sell her to the sex trade, then decide to ransom her? Surely that massively increases the risk of the operation.
Why send the ransom to her modelling agency and not her parents? The way ransoms work (I've heard... :shifty: ) is that the stakes are so high for the people involved that they don't dare call the police. With thebest will int eh world, the agency was always going to take more dispassionate view of events,
and contact the authorities. (The answer, presumably, is she advised that her parents wouldn't have the money so were a waste of time...)
Why go to all that trouble then just let her go? It's a nonsense.

Not only let her go, but hand deliver her to the British consulate rather than trying to get out of dodge yourself.

I'm looking to buy a new fridge freezer and of all the stores to have the new Samsung RB37K63402C, it was BrightHouse. Never been in one before, nor will I ever be in one again.

'I want to buy this fridge outright.'
'You can't.'
'What do you mean I can't?'
'You've got to pay in installments or you can take it home and pay later.'
'But I want to buy it NOW.'

So for a fridge that I believe has a RRP of around £800, they wanted anywhere from £1,250 to £1,810. The interest rate at its worst was at around 70%! Never known anything like it. And the store was a tip. Worse than Great Universal.

You went to a rent-to-own store to buy something outright and were surprised that it would cost a lot?

I knew nothing about them. I've never heard of a shop where you can't buy something if you don't take out a weekly payment plan. I mean it's just...ridiculous. It's so farcical in fact, you can leave the shop with a product only if you agree to pay nothing there and then.

How they've managed to get a new product ahead of John Lewis and Curry's though I don't know.

They used to be far more common, but Bright House is quite well known as a rent-to-own store.

I don't know how they get stuff ahead of the other shops, is it a "launch exclusive" like you get with video games? :slol:

We used to have one where I lived who did TVs. You'd rent the TV on a contract and you could sort of "trade up" at the end of your contract. It was always cheaper to just buy the TV, but most people who use them don't have the actual money to buy the TV up front.

Is it for people with really bad credit or financing problems too? Because John Lewis, Curry's and Argos all do payment plans (I'm currently using it for DFS, in fact) and interest rates are usually under 30%, and sometimes even 0%. Visa cards also do the same thing for the first year or so.

From the overall tone of BrightHouse to the 'I'm going to burn your strawberry floating house down, mate' nature of the sales assistant, this didn't seem like a place renown for great customer service.

I've never heard of Bright House either. Just been on their website, here's what it would cost for a PS4 Pro 1TB with FIFA 17:

Yeah but on the flipside, they'll deliver it for free. :datass:
