Due to the layout of my home, it would be next to impossible to get a “normal” sofa in unless we ended up removing windows. We got one from Ikea in the end, it’s decent enough quality and comfortable enough.

And I bet it didn't cost £3,000 spread over four years...

It didn't. But then I missed out on the time limited DfS sale.

Bloated is precisely the word. It's all padding and foot-deep backrests/armrests, though, isn't it?

I would imagine the reason is so that the large chavs can sit on their large sofa with their massive brood of similarly large children, whilst watching Jeremy Kyle to see if Dean and Jenna are on it like they said they was.

Recently changed over to the new SkyQ hub router. Man, it has REALLY rubbish WiFi compared to the old 2.0 model. For all the technical bollocks (2.4GHz/5), the WIFi just simply isn't as strong. The old one, positioned under a table (!), worked fine in the garden: this new one is useless straight out of the door.

It also goes to sleep when not in use to save energy. But what this means is that when I go to check my iPhone in the morning, there's no signal. You've got to turn the WIFi on the phone off and then on again.

No wonder it needs the Sky Q TV boxes to 'boost its signal'

Now is the time to press home your advantage, Jawa. The Wasp Alliance is weak and vulnerable to further attacks, strike now and deliver the fatal blow, seek out other hives in your local neighbourhood!

I am somewhat reticent to take on the role of a waspbuster. I pretty much have my hands full picking up rubbish dropped by brain-dead residents in my flats.

Speaking of Sky, I was looking at jumping back aboard with Sky Q lately. They need to swap out a part of your dish, right?

Do they still have that dumb thing from a few years back where the engineers aren't allowed to go into your roofspace or above a certain height? I had to get an independent installer to fit my dish back in 2014 because I wanted it on the chimney. I asked on their chat, and the girl was telling me they changed their policies recently, but with how thirsty she was for the sale, I'm not sure I could trust what she was telling me.

Laga still works for sky, right? Bat signal.

Honestly I couldn't say what the policies are when it comes to installation, totally outside my area. My dish is just on the side if the house, but then again I don't have a chimney.
I had no problems getting multi-room fitted to the top floor of my townhouse in the pre-Q days though.

I think they introduced the "special heights team", however this will need to be booked over the phone and logged (otherwise they'll just send out a normal engineer). It's an insurance/training issue.

And for Sky Q, the transponder on the front of the dish is changed. It's what stops Sky+HD and Sky Q being installed on the same dish.

This is going back 5 or 6 years, but when I had Sky installed they couldn’t get a signal at the front of the property because of the angle to the satellite. They then booked in a “special heights team” to install a dish on the roof, who came out and said it was too high for their ladder. Sky were then at a loss as to how to get a longer ladder and so I just paid a local guy to fit a Sky dish for me. He just found a decent angle and installed the dish with no real issues.

Sky engineers. :fp:

You don't get UHD unless you take multiroom? Is that right?

strawberry float me, this gets expensive. I just want all the sports channels in the highest def available with 72Mb internet, and I can't find a way to do it that's less than £140 a month.

I feel like BT launching their Sport has really strawberry floated consumers. Price is crazy if you don't take them for broadband, which the price is also crazy for.

Let me send you something.

A tip for anyone wanting to knock a little money off their Sky TV. Go to the cancellation section of their website and tell them you're leaving because you think it's too expensive. On the next page they'll immediately offer you 10% off.

By going through the whole Live Chat malarkey, they'll up it to 30%.

Go through with cancellation and you'll have 30 days in which to change your mind. Sky will then proceed to bombard you with 50% off. Once those 30 days have elapsed it'll be up to 65%, 75% if you're really lucky.

Every year it's the same story now. They're like clockwork.

Walkers have set up something (football? who cares) where you can have Gary Linker wave your photo around (on their Twitter and on big screens near Sports venues?).

The internet reacts as expected
