I wonder how many people take advantage of the 'if you don't like me get a refund' option on the back of food packaging. Unless a product has been damaged or I've been overcharged I've never felt the need to get a refund just because something was crap tasting.

When I was a kid I phoned the Pot Noodle people because they changed the recipe and the beef ones were too sweet.
They just said thanks for the feedback.
The beef ones are still too sweet so I dont think they really heeded my warning.

The one thing I can't bring myself to do is to just go once a week, I think it would make me feel too much like an adult. I prefer to just make several small trips on my way back from work, or use it as an excuse to go for a walk.

There are so many there isn't really a hard and fast rule generally, but ASDA is practically identical to Walmart in America but with a different colour scheme. Lidl and Aldi are bog standard, basic, slightly run-down establiments but the same as elsewhere in Europe. Some are now being upgraded. Marks and Spencer has the highest gloss factor, with niceties up the wazoo, followed by Waitrose. Sainsbury's is similar, but basically a slightly cheaper version for those that can't afford to shop at those two. Morrisons was affectionately known as "the Sainsbury's of the North" because it's basically Sainsbury's with a faux farmers market exterior and dry ice machines. Basically if you're shopping at Iceland (frozen food specialists), ASDA or Farm Foods (never been in one personally) you're povo scum who should probably be hanged. That's before you get to newsagent and convenience store brands (such as Londis) and the heavy discounters (Poundland, PoundWorld and £-Stretcher).

Snap. I quite like choosing stuff and the carrying-the-bags-home bit is my exercise. Give it a few years, though, and - being a non-driver - I'll have to get one of those pull-along trolleys to get my shopping home

I've jumped on the rucksack bandwagon...over the one shoulder like school so I'll inevitably end up with a bad back.

M&S food is really good though. Ive done full shops in there before, but it is ruinously expensive so I dont make a habit of it.

I bought a pizza, garlic bread, salad bowl, cheese cake and 4 bottles of beer in there a few months ago. £20 gone. You couldn't do it every day, it'd wipe you out.
Their beer aisle is also outstanding, as are their lunch options and freshly made baguettes.
They always have the most attractive cashiers too...

It is good, but it's overpriced. I'd rather go to Morrisons and pay half the amount for food of a comparable quality and spend the (surprisingly large) amount of money saved on something good rather than waste it on food to enhance my image.

M&S might be the most attractive, but imagine the filthy gooseberry fool you'd get from an Asda one.
